Our Motherboard is the Foundation of Our Computer. And Our Chipset is the Foundation of the Motherboard. Today We're going to be Answering a Subscriber Question. We're going to read the Comment. And We're going to look at and Evaluate the Specs but We have to understand the Problem before We an come up with a Solution. And as We look at the Specs of the Motherboard, We're also going to need to Outline, Review and Define what We're looking at for PCI Express Resources. Because as this goes down through the hierarchical structure from Workstations to HEDT which is now kind of gone flat. More about that in another Video! And in the Desktop which is where We're at with these Resources. This is actually a two part Question. And what We have to determine, by looking at the CPU and the Chipset, are where We stand with PCI Express Lanes.

I gotta say, this video was a very great addition to when I tried reading the same exact manual you showed in the video about the motherboard. Now my desired PCIe lane allocation has become much more clear! Thanks a lot

Hi xXBobbyXx86, Welcome! Are You referring to the X16 M.2 NVMe PCIe Quad card? Or the PLX Chipset? Consumer Desktop Motherboards do not have enough PCIe Resources either to the CPU nor through the Chipset to Add the M.2 NVMe PCIe Storage everyone is asking about!

Hi primecrew, Welcome! Glad You've brought that up! Yes, Memory Compatibility and Stability is always an on-going work in progress among other enhancements not always documented in an errata document like We use to receive! However, check with other Users, When possible. Sometimes a Bios Update can brick a Motherboard. And that's a Bummer if no way to recover. It happens! Appreciate Your Comments!

Hi there! I'm having an issue that been happening since I build the PC, but its getting more persistent recently, I will try to be as specific as possible. When I power up the pc after its been turn off for a while, sometimes completly sporadic without a pattern, the PC turns itself off before getting into BIOS, the motherboard's rgb turns on like its in stock mode (I allways have all the rgb turned off)(No motherboard code is shown when that happens and no beeps). Then I have to power on the PC again, and it enters windows with no issue. It allways enters to windows the second time that I power it on. Also, I have no issues outiside this, the PC works perfecly once I'm in windows. I have the BIOS and Windows up to date, I have no idea what could it been the issue causing this. It's random, one day can happen to me twice if I turn off the computer and open it again, and sometimes can happen after 3 days, a week etc. If anyone has the slightes idea of what could cause that I would really apreciate it. I will leave my setup details down bellow, and I can provide more info if necesary. Everything is connected to a UPS (APC Easy UPS BVX 2200VA/ 1200 Watts. Thank you very much. Case: Lian Li O-11 Dynamic, Motherboard: Asus X570 ROG Crosshair Hero VIII Wifi, CPU: Ryzen 5950X GPU: 3090 Founders Edition ( I'm currently using a Gigabyte 970 and the issue persists) Power Supply: Corsair HX850 RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32 GB DDR4 3200 MHz C16 ( x2 so a total of 64gb) Cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 360 Windows Drive: Sabrent 1TB Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 Fans: Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM chromax ( 9 units)

Hi Mandonga, Welcome! Can You identify when this started? Did You change anything? Has this been occurring since You originally Built Your Computer? Could be a lot of things. This will be a Process of elimination. My thoughts are, in order, PSU, Motherboard then CPU. Do You have any USB Devices plugged in at Boot? Any special I/O Cards installed?

@@BuildOrBuy This has been happening since the firsts weeks when I built the PC, but like I mention it goes on an off completly random,. The only think I change to the pc, was the thermal paste the 1st week or so, I even put a better one, I don't know if that might be it, I even put a better one. Maybe I will get a new power supply and test for a few weeks and see. But again, having this issue so randomly is really weird, I have no way of replicating the problem. Like I said, 4 days may pass with no issue and then 2 days in a row this happens.

@@BuildOrBuy No worries, I will post if I have some news regarding the issue. But you will not believe what happened to me last week. Don't know if you remember but I ended up buying a Seagate Firecuda 530 4TB M.2, also I got a AMPCOM M.2 NVME SSD a PCIE Pcie 4.0 adapter in order to put the M.2 on the second Pcie slot at the motherboard (worked like a charm), and finally I used the Sabrent Heatsink you featured on the video. Everything was working fine until next week, all of a suden the drive disapeared from my PC, no sings of it, well after some troubleshooting I ended up disasembling the M.2, it turns out the Sabrent heatsink pressure ripped out the solder from the M.2 connector. I was just blown way by that. The heatsink is amazing, the temps where crazy low, but man, its so big that's almost not compatible with anything, I can not even put it in my motherboard M.2 slot, it does not fit, its to wide, and I assume all the other Pcie 4.0 card adapters will not be compatible with the heatsink. I saw that you put that Sabrent heatsink on the dual Supermicro Pcie 4.0 adapter, have you had any issues so far? I'm planning on getting that adapter eventually but do you know any other Single Pcie 4.0 adapter that will be compatible with the Sabrent heatsink? Let me know. Thank alot for you time Gill, really apreciate it. Cheers,

Hi@@mandonga1200, Wow! What a mess! We have Tested 14 M.2 NVMe PCIe Heatsinks and 2 Thermal Pads. And I have had concern about the weight on an Adapter Card which started Us on Our testing path! Therefore, using any extra M.2 NVMe PCIe Heatsink should be relegated to a parallel placement in relation to the Motherboard instead of perpendicular placement. Yes, the Supermicro Dual M.2 NVMe Adapter is a Server Component. Solid Construction. However, due to the stress of the added weight, that too could become a problem. This is all uncharted water We are venturing forward in. This exemplifies Our concern for any M.2 NVMe Adapter should include their own Passive Heatsink Cooling Solution. Everything We do is temporary for a Video. We reconfigure and move on to the next Video! Yes, Keep Us Posted on Your Progress! Here to help, learn and share! Give me some time. I think Sabrent has a Single M.2 NVMe Adapter. Here is the link on Amazon for the Sabrent Single Adapter. No bracket. amzn.to/3b09eLh There are several others. Not all are the same. For adding a Heatsink, that would need the I/O Bracket for stability. Glotrends makes a Dual, 1 M.2 NVMe and 1 M.2 SATA. amzn.to/3PJu6VD As an Amazon Affiliate I earn from qualifying purchases. We have a Video about the Glotrends Sky Quad card. Great product! It works! We have not tried either of these two, yet. Hope this helps!
