Great value Nev, just stepped up to third and committed to more practice, I’ve already found that a bad day with a better practice work ethic is not such a bad day. I will incorporate your advice from this video, thanks again

@@gregsherman785 Good to hear Greg. Based in Wellington NZ. Been here 7 years now, time certainly does fly. Quick question? Are you able to stamp new bowls? What I mean by that is, if a prototype was made, could you release your own bowl? I've been pondering on that for a few years.

This is how I've been coaching the "yard on" "weighted draw" etc etc sir for a few years. Great that you have put it out there. Also a big advocate of the shooter stance! Going on from this I also coach the heavier shots (maybe rink +1m and heavier) with a completely different stance and setup. The draw stance and delivery has a point where accuracy will break down quite easily. Having a different stance also makes it far easier to differentiate the shots and return to a drawing weight for the next bowl. Great content as always!

Good advise Stephen and yes agree drive stance and approach very different than a draw. Appreciate your feedback, keep up the good work! 🥇

Welcome back Nev. Great advice, as usual. As a relatively inexperienced bowler this aspect of the game has been doing my head in. I'll certainly follow your advice as I did with your shooter stance with great effect. Thanks and keep up the good work. Some advice on dealing with heavy greens, like we have in the UK, would be useful.
@NevRodda2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Brian, heavy greens requires a different delivery to fast greens. Yes that would be a whole other topic to cover..

Hi Nev, very helpful, makes sense. I am new to bowls and your videos are very helpful. I used to play golf, I used to visualise the shot before I stepped up to take my stance. Many bowlers play very quickly and don’t appear to visualise. Can you tell me at what point you visualised the shot please, in golf we called it the pre shot routine. Thanks, Nikki.

Gonna take some practice, I've always been comfortable for the skip to tell me where he needs a bowl and then go and place it. Since playing in Australia I had little to no communication from my skip(yes it is social but still important to me) up until last week, unfortunately won't play with the same players every time. Been a big adjustment from a slow green to super fast and synthetic greens and then having to figure out what to do with every end. We also had a lot of visual communication on the green, not as much here.

Hi ive done lawn bowls for year's now on and off when i started playing i used my uncles bowls which were a size 5, when i got used to them i played the weighted shots consistently. Is it not getting used to a bowl that matters and building your confidence drawing the bowl and getting the feel.
@NevRodda Жыл бұрын
Absolutely, confidence matters a huge amount! Confidence allows you to do the job on autopilot without second guessing and or blocking what you already know how to do.
@AJJmusician2 жыл бұрын
That's near enough exactly the way I do it. I wish I had someone tell me that years ago, instead of having to work it out for myself. I wonder if others do it this way too or have their own methods?

Howdy Nev, I'm new to bowls, I have noticed that some bowlers (on the take-away) swing the bowl in the hand, to the left and then it realigns again at release.. why is that? .. thank you in advance..Steve

Hello. I have just started. Love the video's, thanks. I have a dodgy right ankle, so can't bend it enough to do the weight loading. So I have started crouching and coming up off my toes. Any tips for this stance? If I stand up straight, I feel like I am more off balance as I have to stand on my right tiptoe in order to be able to bend low enough to deliver a smooth bowl.
