What is very impressive about this firearm is that it is a 2011 grip format in an Springfield EMP barrel length. It uses very forward thinking in its design by combining some of the best materials and manufacturing processes that help to keep the weight down without sacrificing any stability of functionality. Those rails are freaking beefy and rather long which will equate to much better cycling and accuracy. I have had my eye on this pistol for a while now, but unfortunately life keeps getting in the way of me having the expendable cash to purchase one yet. I am anxious to hear your thoughts on it because it isn't the cheapest firearm in a 1911/2011 catalog but many have said that the price is justified in the quality and handling.

Follow up, I received mine and immediately detail stripped it. I wanted to refit the grip safety for an earlier release, and examine the internals. The important parts, hammer and sear, disconnector and ejector are nicely finished machined parts. The thumb and grip safeties, and slide stop, are MIM. I'm well satisfied and everything is perfectly fitted. This appears to be a significant step up in quality compared to the Prodigy, at the same price point. Range testing will have to wait for a bit better weather!

A little clarification on dropping the slide on an empty chamber. It is actually harmful. The sear hooks get battered against the hammer when you do that. Another person alluded to that earlier. There is an episode of Gun Guys where Bill Wilson talks about that. I believe it's also in the Jerry Kuhnhausen books in the 1911. Stay warm & Merry Christmas everybody.

You two are awesome, love your note about the gap for the extractor on this barrel, you know your 1911’s. I have two of these (one non-comp, one comp) and know of the extractor slamming with slide release but didn’t see this relief in the barrel, brilliant.

I own the previous version of this, I really like it! The small tweaks they made to the 2nd Gen version make me a little jealous! I find it to be a great gun for the money, especially if you appreciate the slide milling and barrel fluting. For a short barrel handgun, it is an excellent shooter and great capacity for such a small package. After I bought this, all the 8/9/10 round 9mm 1911’s don’t seem to make much sense. I’d love a Staccato, but for a grand less the Bul Armory is very good!
@GBGuns2 жыл бұрын
From what I understand this is actually a fourth generation of this model. In the past they offered it as a custom build with options, but after a few years of Americans generally asking for the same thing they standardized this build so they could produce more and offer it at a lower cost.
@mi_cheap_guns29252 жыл бұрын
@@GBGuns I wish I could get the mag well and the thumb safety that’s on the newest version got my older model, but they say they don’t sell parts separately. I still love what I have, it’s definitely in the “keeper” category. Good table top, look forward to seeing if you think it’s as good of a shooter as I do.

Bul Armory SAS II Ultralight 3.25” BUYERS BEWARE!!! If you live in a restricted state with magazine capacity issues, Colorado is 15 limit. Bul Armory will send you a 10 magazine round vice stock 16, no in between which isn’t listed on their site. I don’t know too many folks who buy a double stacked 1911 gun with a magazine capacity of 10 for $1500, there’s too many options at single stack on same platform for 50%+ monies saved. No compensation offered either, they stated to purchase mags at neighboring states on my dime, lol!

bill wilson knows more about 1911s than you do, and he says that if you drop the slide on an empty chamber like that it will damage the engagement of the sear with the hammer, ruining the trigger pull
@funkla652 жыл бұрын
Hmm - the rear sight uses the RMSc mount? That's kinda novel. And many RMSc compatible dots include rear sight notches, and it's not a bad idea to keep the dot as far away from the ejection port as possible... I guess I would prefer a drop safety on the firing pin, but it's an impressive looking piece.
@highxj2 жыл бұрын
Mine is out for delivery today, looking forward to it. I have to laugh at the hammer however, it actually looks MORE prone to snagging when cocked, which of course it will be when carrying. A Commander type hammer would be buried into the grip safety. Also, dropping the slide on an empty chamber has nothing to do with the extractor, all 1911's have that clearance cut in the barrel. It's more an issue with being rough on the ignition system. Dropping a round into the chamber, then releasing the slide is what's tough on the extractor. Appreciate the review, thanks!

I like the light weight for a carry gun but this new style of making as many sharp points on a carry gun as possible is counterproductive. If it's uncomfortable to carry people stop carrying that gun. A few decades ago we were breaking corners (melt term came into vogue) and making carry guns as comfortable to carry as possible. Now were making guns that look cool on TV and video games but are so full of sharp edges and things to poke you that virtually no holster can make them comfortable to carry. Sure you can put them in a holster and just stand there but if you try to do all the normal movements you do on a day to day you'll find your comfort level quickly diminish.
@GBGuns2 жыл бұрын
Where do you see sharp points that wouldn't be covered by a holster?
@scottmackey41822 жыл бұрын
Having just picked up and examining it, I assure you there are no sharp corners. The textures are just where you want them and the slide serrations are nicely eased.

When men such as Bill Wilson, Larry Vickers, and Virgil Tripp ( just to name a few) say "Do not drop the slide on a 1911 or double stack 1911/ 2011" I'll listen to them. Unless you know more than the 3 I mentioned ( which of corse you do not). In other words, listen to men who actually make some of the best pistols on earth and stop assuming through your own ignorance, that you know better than they do. Nobody should take you seriously.
@GBGuns Жыл бұрын
If I ever have an issue from dropping the slide I'll let you know. By the way, stay away from those new-fangled microwaves and wireless devices too. There's no way they could actually work since technology never changes.
@thefrogking481 Жыл бұрын
@Graham Baates Like I said. I'll take the words of men who actually make the pistols. I'm sure in some circles, your attempts at humor are considered adequate, I'm assuming of course. I also know you're trying to save face to your other viewers who may read this, they know I'm right. Nothing wrong with making mistakes, but only a fool tries to make light of his short comings and jeers those who point them out. Gentlemen, never drop the slide on a 1911 pistol with an empty chamber, regardless of what some YT guy says in a video.
@GBGuns Жыл бұрын
When's the last time you think Wilson or Vickers actually sat at a bench and made something? They're businessmen and figureheads for companies these days. I'm sure it may have been true back when they were building, but metallurgy and design has changed (unless you're a Glock fan, then everything's stuck in the 1990s)
