I'm maintaining my "dream physique" without difficulty, hunger or weakness BUT that's because my dream was already very modest and reasonable... I dont need to be absolutley shredded, I just want to be healthily lean and have people look at me and think "she looks pretty strong. I bet she lifts weights" .. and so far that's been fairly sustainable and makes me very happy :)
@srleplay3 жыл бұрын
Biggest problem is people trying to justify their bad decisions. If you say "I ate 9 burgers because I really wanted to eat 9 burgers" you are less likely to do it again for some time but also you will probably feel a bit of guilty about it, but if you say "I ate 9 burgers because I am bulking and all Olympia guys do the same" it feels nicer but it's harder to stop doing it.

I think that another problem is people trying to stay a lean as fitness models, maingaining happens when you are in the right bf% for you, that may be 9%, like for Coach, or 16% something, like for Igor of VP; if you cut to 5% you cannot expect to gain muscle while being that lean

"Maingaining" is a great way to spin your wheels and get no progress. Bulking doesn't mean getting fat. You can bulk at a small surplus, say 250-500 calories and easily cut after. Me personally, I'm bulking because I'm a strength athlete.

Never understood cutting and bulking so I never really got into sorting out a diet or properly training. Once I decided to really track my protein intake and calories per day I was shocked that people even needed a bulk to begin with. Then I found Coach, what a relief it was to hear facts and no bullshit. Glad there's a few more popping up like him too!

I went from 73kg / 12% to 77kg / 12% in 3 years without really thinking about it (I’m 1m78). Pretty much eating the same things every day, just making sure I eat enough protein and I feel full. I’m staying between 77 and 78 since then (it’s been a year), still making progress in the gym, and happy with my body (I feel like I even get leaner, and still build muscle).

@aminemezzour8403 Жыл бұрын
@@TheSuicide222 you’re right, I was probably unconsciously slowly increasing the calories as I was getting a bit bigger, probably because I was hungrier. Rule of thumb: you take your height in cm, you remove 100 and that gives you your « maingain » bodyweight in kg. If you’re way bellow, you should bulk by increasing your calories and then maingain from there, and if you’re way above you should cut and maingain from there. At your ideal weight, you will be able to slowly build some muscle and loose fat as you maingain (that takes years and consistency to notice).

I cut and unintentionally bulk because not working in the fitness industry, sometimes I have time to count calories and sometimes I don't, and when I don't I generally get less sleep which increases appetite. The only time I lose fat is when counting calories for the most part. When I hit 16% I will think about maingaining. Yes, I should probably buy the frigging cookbook.

I think it would be better to maingain at a bit lower body fat like 14-15? But depends on your goals ofc.
@executivelifehacks67473 жыл бұрын
@@manasvegi4170 16% is good for health from what I have read. 16-20% for males. My fitbit scale says 25-26% right now. I can see vague outline of biceps vein and vague outline of 4 pack when flexing so I think it's a little lower. I will see how I go. At some point the face gets too gaunt and the wrinkles show more. Key is not having a fat face, a v taper and to not have a gut, I am there already so beyond this, just some minor benefit I think.
@manasvegi41703 жыл бұрын
@@executivelifehacks6747 ya 16 should be decent definitely. Just that once I reached 16 I definitely had the energy to go upto 14 and from there it gets a bit harder I feel. People have been telling me I look too skinny and should bulk but I still feel fat and wasn't sure at all which direction I should go in. But now I know. I'll continue my cut until I have a body fat percentage where I am happy with how I look and where I am comfortable and have energy. Only then I will begin maingaining. I now know what to do. When you maingain, you do add weight due to building muscle, not fat. That’s why I like viewing maintenance calories as the calories you need to maintain you’re current bf%, not weight. You are not gaining or losing fat since you are eating at maintenance. Weight fluctuates so much even eating at maintenance calories.
