Well done Mike for having the guts 1) to show life as it really is 2) to apologise to Erin. We all get days like this (I thought that's what the song, "My Mama told me there’d be days like this" was about!) and negotiating them with grace and strength is character-building. Seeing as you were filming as well as coping with a new situation, I reckon you coped very well! I do hope you and Erin are quickly reconciled and can laugh about it soon; but *do* pay attention to your safety so you don't end up squashed by a pallet of feed! Enjoy your week free of us all watching your every move, and have a wonderful weekend. Blessings, K

Welcome to the world of ibc bags! Can't tell you how many times I've spilled a whole bag on the driveway, and had to shovel it all back into the bin it was supposed to make it to. The worst is tearing a hole in the bag somewhere, there's no stopping the flow after that. Here's a trick I found with the dump trailers. If you can reach the loops and lift the bag enough clear the bottom of the trailer, then you can lift the bag from the side of the trailer and pull forward with the bag suspended. Once the trailer is clear, then you can place the bag wherever. One way to avoid dragging out the pallets you can't reach and rub the floor. Essentially pulling the trailer out from underneath the bag without dragging anything.

Back in the early days of OWL Erin was a welcome standard. As time passed Erin became increasingly more involved in many things and we saw her less. Mike does a tremendous job but it is always wonderful to have Erin involved in the show. Erin is a trooper deluxe, very bright and hard working but also a sheer delight. She is always welcome to stop by adding class and charm to OWL. From one long-time, appreciative subscriber in N Idaho.

Good morning Mike!! I rarely have time to rewatch a video... but this one was a great one... I've been there, trying to make things more efficient and repeatable.... building "inventions" that fall short, but lead to a better one... it's called growth and development. Thank you for sharing... I had my moments in private... except for the times I had a little help... and I ate more than my share of crow too... as few had my vision in mind... but they have feelings that I overlooked in the heat of the moment. Thank you Mike!! Enjoy your week off. Daily vlogs are brutal and can change the focus from fun to "assignment". My wife found that out with her 30 day series.

Mike, i've had enough bad days to know that its never a good idea to tell someone how to do what they were having trouble doing... however my uses and re-uses a those super sacs for feed, and how we do it is, we have built boxes around the bags. Think orchard boxes but over built so we never have to rebuild the box. and never take the bag out of the box. when you go to the mill, the whole box goes in the truck with the bag inside. Just make sure you over build the box for wear and tear, especially the pallet part as that's the most likely to break down first.

Hammerslap the reason we started building the boxes was because my uncle had one that pinned him to the ground against a cattle gate. He was stuck for over three hours until I came home from work and found him. I was able to pull it off him with a grapple bucket. Yeah it was a pain to clean up afterwards, but we learned our lesson and built the boxes afterwards!! Luckily he only had some bruising and swelling. He very easily could have lost his leg.

Often the "eating crow" is harder than anything else especially when we didn't mean it the way it came out. When things go south on us, it's easy to lose our cool in the stress of the moment. worked in a rail yard loading dock, you can get a pallet grab, it pinches the center board and you can pull it by a chain as long as you want, we pulled loads over 50 feet to get them to the back. Northern too, Grainger, have them, very useful and safe. Uline has poly pallets we used to do exactly what you are saying with the bottom trap on the bags. and I welded up and A-frame with a chain hoist one time for just the predicament you find yourself in, it has saved my bacon umpteen times, a wire pallet crib keeps those sob's from tipping over I learned Gawd I love seeing somebody else go thru the learning process, it just makes my day, love your vids thanks for sharing

On that pallet I would add some walls to it that you can drop the bag down into... Add some reinforcement to it and some tie down points to strap it to the brick gaurd on the skid steer.... basically just a giant box.... Would be worth the time to make it if you continue to buy bulk feed in those bags...

Have you ever thought of investing in the 1 ton feeder trailers at least for your chicken & pig loose feeds? They have a control spout you can turn on to fill your buckets & turn off when you're finished filling your buckets. The advantage of them is you can put them wherever you want them close to your pigs & chickens. You can also hook them up to your truck & fill them up at the grainery & not have to worry about the cost of the bags. They'd pay for themselves in the long run.

working in a hardware store for 14 yrs , ive been in your shoes many times with pallets and unstable loads. I think Erin got to you with the smile on her face we all would have had so def understand your frustration , and her smirk as well, lol. One suggestion i thought of because i know wooden pallets suck is maybe something made of steel , maybe with sides on it as well to keep the bags from going wonky on ya. i know you have some metal scrap around and thats just a idea maybe for the project list this winter , great videos gonna miss you next week !!

U know this is y you guys are my favorite youtubers ♥ you didnt have to share the hardships of your jobs with the power of editing or in other youtuber fashion a snap of the fingers and all is good. Thank you both mike and erin. Thats why i give what money i can to try and help out the real life trials and tribulations.
