When I started lifting I knew that I NEEDED to eat more than previously. The problem- I did not feel hungry even though I just had a heavy lifting session. I soon realized that I needed to TEACH MYSELF to be hungry. I increased the amount of oatmeal I had at a time from 1 cup to 2 cups, I mixed cheese in with my eggs ect. People who struggle putting on weight need to realize that they need to stop eating based off of hunger but instead whether or not they NEED to eat.

Irritable GI, bloating, and pain were some nasty side effects that i experienced. A lot of the big boys tell you to "Stop being a pansy!" and wolf down that food so you can get SicK GaiNS! Take your time, this isn't a race.

This diet isn't really worthwhile. You'd rather gain weight slower than getting over 5k a day and being bloated to fk. Imagine a normal maintenance diet with 300-700 calories on top. That wouldn't be hard and you can actually bulk without gaining a shit ton of fat. That is how people bulk in their first year of lifting to a new weight and never really drop below it.

Mainly eat less. Especially less carbs, the carbs you do eat, eat before working out or doing something you need energy for. Try to keep protein and fat intake high while being below your daily calorie expenditure.
@fuckfuckiluvesex8 жыл бұрын
why cut back on carbs
@TheHanspeter88 жыл бұрын
Because you want to eat a lot of protein and fat while limiting your caloric intake. Carbs are not an essential nutrient for humans. They are not needed to build cells or produce Hormons unlike fat and protein. They are in that sense "empty" calories i.e. you just need to consume them to fill up your energy needs. When you are cutting you want to still get all your essential nutrients while pushing your daily caloric intake below your daily caloric expenditure, because carbs have no nutritional value besides calories it makes sense to focus on reducing your intake of them if you want to cut.

This is so true. I can still see myself, years ago, mixing my protein shake at gym water fountain and thinking "This will make me gain muscle", all while eating 2100 cals a day and wondering why I wasn't gaining any size or strength. Later I would start eating a much bigger diet, and went from 145 to 195 and added so much more to my lifts.
@Intranetusa3 жыл бұрын
Did you at least lose body fat and look shredded at 145? I've seen some other videos saying it is possible, abet difficult to gain muscle while also losing body fat.
@blackphoenix89328 жыл бұрын
No need for this. You're better off just working out your current total cals per day, and adding 10% more every time your lifting progress stagnates. It's like a slow long term bulk, that better reflects the rate an individual (especially a natty) can gain muscle. You'll also minimalize body fat gain, which eliminates the tedious need to keep cutting.
@stelliumeleven28898 жыл бұрын
superior progress on a excessive surplus mate. fuck stagnation.
@jermapushedmeintoameatgrinder8 жыл бұрын
It is faster to bulk 5 months on ~500kcal surplus and then cut 3 months versus slowly building same amount of muscle for a year. For inexperienced bodybuilders issue with adding 10% every time is there is a lot more room for error, also who cares if they get chubby for some time? You are free to do what you want anyway
@blackphoenix89328 жыл бұрын
Sugar I agree, you are free to add 5 inches to your waist and an extra 40/20 to your blood pressure. I just wouldn't want to risk the negative health effects that can come from sudden weight gain. Especially because at some point it's gonna lead to a cut, which is going to dramatically slow/halt progress anyway.
@blackphoenix89328 жыл бұрын
Sugar Also, 500 calories isn't really that great of a bulk, after a few months of productive strength training, that would probably become maintenance (for a novice anyway). My suggestion takes into consideration that as you gain useful bodyweight, your metabolic rate increases as well as your need for calories. Instead of well overshooting your current caloric requirement to gain muscle, and gaining a bunch of useless bodyweight that you are gonna have to deal with at some point anyway.
@jermapushedmeintoameatgrinder8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, dirty bulks are pretty pointless if you have no mental reasons for them. Not talking about adding 200 pounds and cutting 150. But I was talking about a controlled bulk (300-500) surplus max. It is the most efficient way of building muscle. For health problems, "sudden weight gain" seems to not be a real issue if you are gaining 0.5kgs per week. While cutting, sure you are not as peak performance, but if you have high fat you will still grow lots as a beginner, and people also take replenishing weeks to get energy on cuts.

Awesome video! I will say that from my experience this is a diet for a tall 100 kg bulker. As a 70kg 1.75 average-skinny-can't-gain-boy, 3k calories definitely worked and still felt like plenty of food. My daily menu is as follows: - 2 toasts with peanut butter - greek yogurt with like 100g granola and some nuts - lunch with 200g of some carb and a similar amount of meat - oats with nuts and fruit - again some carbs and meat for dinner - trail mix Worked perfectly but can get a bit hard if you truly can't eat so much.

less ice cream, less bread, less rice, simply less calories :-)
@GermenWarfare8 жыл бұрын
The easiest way to do that would be to swap the whole milk with skim milk, get rid of the salad dressing, use less peanut butter, use a fat free cooking spray for the scrambled eggs rather than butter, use reduced fat cheese, instead of ice cream eat frozen yogurt, etc. Approximately half of the calories from this daily eating plan come from the 285 grams of fat, so basically reduce that 285 to something like 80grams. But that all depends on your height and weight, and the shitty thing about cutting is that whatever way you choose to reduce your caloric intake, you still have to be in a caloric deficit to start loosing weight.
@AlkalineGamingHD8 жыл бұрын
Replace the milk with water. cut back on the amounts of each serving. so 1 1/2 cups of rice. 1 tbps of salad dressing. 3-4 eggs. etc. then after a few weeks/ a month cut further or bulk.
@StayCalm08 жыл бұрын
If you just cut out the snacks it would be what, 1500 calories less? Most full grown men need 3000 calories a day on training days anyway if they want to make gains
@AlkalineGamingHD8 жыл бұрын
not true. depends on the person and you can still make gains on a cut.

Alan, I've been out of the gym for well over 9 months now for varying reasons/excuses: knee pain from squating with poor form, stress with work, lack of motivation and most importantlyasa result of the former reasons: a diet that's gone to shit (eating only a little if at all, and only garbage). This video, I believe, has given me the motivation I needed to hop back into the grind. To eat like a Lord and lift like a Beast. Thank you, brother, for continuing to guide me on my journey.

It's just lately I knew that my coach watches your videos. I'm an ultra-skinny dude, just 45 kgs at 5'7. And his advice to me about gaining weight? EAT. He didn't even try selling me the supplements he's selling, he told me just drink whole milk (I'm lactose intolerant though, and have annoying food allergies). Just fucking eat, 4 times at minimum. Honestly, after over 3 years, already gained 20 kg+, I still struggle to eat. I got used to the bawling and forcing myself to eat because I can lose a kilo in 2 days if I don't eat a lot. Again, for my skinny brothers, fucking EAT, a lot. It's not that complicated, but it sure is a struggle. All worth it at the end

He looked like an Ectomorph in the beginning. However, the after picture makes him look like a Meso-Endo Hybrid. I always did not like the Ecto, Meso, Endo classifications. I think it just has to do with the muscle and fat ratios. You have a fat guy he is a endomorph, you have a skinny guy he is an ectomorph. I was always under the impression that whatever you are that is what you are for the rest of your life. Could someone explain to me if I am wrong?
@mappy-59348 жыл бұрын
its called genetics???? you are sounding like those 3rd wave fems that talk about gender identification labels, please stop before you turn into one those malignant cancers or similar. People are born with different metabolisms, fat/muscle; gain/reduction. Its nothing to do with labels, so much as scientific names for different species. its just what you are and what you were born with; that's that. Edit: An observer also cannot precisely determine what type of body someone is because they usually judge by re occuring sizes in body with their eye, although you can get close by listing things for what makes what, but like you yourself said, you can have a tough time figuring out those things when their body starts to change.
@JTBCOOL18 жыл бұрын
Mappy-5 I do not believe that genetics are a big factor that contributes to ones size. Moreso their diet and lifestyle choices. Genetics are something that allows someone to compete at Olympic levels versus NCAA levels. If you are getting all pissed off at me throwing your aggressive rhetoric at me than you are also saying it towards Alan Thrall here. You are a dumbass and maybe should read more closely because what you are picking up from what I say is way different than what I typed out. Also species what the fuck is this? I am a human.
