Have you ever replaced the bearings for the bull gear ? They aren’t easy to find everywhere trying to sell the whole assembly gear , shaft and bearings all together.

Good job.... this is very common disaster on Volvo D11 and D13 engines... i fixed 7 or 8 engines .... after tightening, I welded the nut...for sure....

Yes I did the same but I ended welding the nut and trucks still running perfect

Joshua Derstine I believe I tighten around 300lb and I didn’t put any tread locker because I welded to prevent falling off again

Hi I am thinking of the 2017 Volvo with the D13 ishift engine are they expensive to fix when they go or should I stick with the Cummins engine thanks.

Better stick with Cummins because Volvo has problems with injectors all the time and cost $4000 to repair at list once every year or year and half

I have what sounds like a small rattle when at idle thinking it maybe that. Just dont have the cash to fix truck is used for rv hauler now.

What do you torque the nut at to preload the bearings? Our local dealer doesn't have a spec, only wants to sell complete gear.

Jj truck service / Jose Jimenez how much it cost to repair. My 2014 Volvo stop on the hwy I couldn’t turn the steering and I stop tow to Volvo dealer they told me need overhaul. They told me steering gear and fuel pump and some timing gear bad But they say the only do overhaul. I’m confused
