Bull Moose Talking to Each Other, it's Fantastic
Chill Bill. Such a cool name for a moose. And come to think of it, the name Bill was the name I picked for my first named moose way back in 2003. I might as well tell the story of how the whole “naming moose” thing began.
As I mentioned, it was over 20 years ago, 2003. Back then I shot only photos, and only slide film photos, manual focus and manual exposure Nikon cameras. I drove 400 miles to a remote pond in Northern Maine. Back then the moose population was thick and dense in Northern Maine, moose everywhere. I loved it so much. That special spot became a part of my soul.
I kept and log book…a journal. And so I could keep track of who was who, and attempt to put the puzzles together (much like we do today), I developed a rule. If I spent at least one hour with a certain moose, they got a name. The first one named was Bill. There was Bill, Mary, Big Boy and Pot Belly, to name a few. Those were very special times in my life and that foundation is what put me (Rick) on the path of my life and I stayed on it. Today I am extremely blessed to continue this path with Libby.
I mentioned the name Chill Bill at the beginning of today’s post….I’ll let Libby’s narration tell that story, I hope you enjoyed my naming story as well. Enjoy!
