That was a nice stacked pile of fire wood. Must be like a mirror dont need it there anyway. Looks like you need just a little more rain to make that dry ground a little wetter. Way too wet to be out there working on a personal project unless there was a time constraint you were under. Ken Nolte well you aren’t wrong. BUT, that dozer goes from job site to job site when dirt perfects busy season begins. So the winter time is the the only time I can have it sit up here for me. Captain, what are the dimensions of this land yacht, are you hauling it down this road to resting spot? Should clear spots to pile topsoil on high sides of road. It promotes rotting of any wood mixed in. It'll be a while before you use it. Stack that grey clay right in topsoil pile. Before deciding on culverts I'd wait till basic rough in is done. You may find you can grade out of the need for them. Good job pushing the tree over. When you get to trying larger tree leave the roots intact on heavy side and tilt cut 3 sides about four feet from stump so tree doesnt split. Then directly behind rooted section nudge it over to good lean, back up and fill blade and shove dirt under stump and back up as soon as free fall takes over. Eye protection is good in this case, snapping roots launch wood particles and soil. Hearing also, equipt. not as loud these days but its the tone. My ears ring constantly, wish I had muffs from the start. If you get the urge to back drag try to just skim cutting edge. With heavy load behind blade the chains tighten putting excessive wear on sprockets and bushings of chains. Plus back side of mold board wear. You're doing great, comical too!! LOL SEAT BELT!! If you get knocked out of seat some how that decelarater goes full send, those tracks are unforgiving and we'd all miss you.

The 304 mini hoe is out on a water line job right now and not available, the 120 is in the shop for a long rebuild, and the 140 is out in a stump clearing job. So I’m using what I have available, BUT, once one of the excavators can be brought up, shaping ditches and doing the culvert crossings is exactly what they will be doing. I will do a drone fly over of the property some time and explain the big picture, we have done about half, maybe 1/3 even, of training the woods into a future harvestable hard wood stand. The rest is on the list. A lot of that use to be an ash grove that got destroyed by the beetles and now is dead stands with nasty underbrush coming up, and some of it was clear cut years ago with bad management to follow which leads to nasty under brush as well.

ec1414ec hahaha, well you aren’t wrong. It is an absolute mess right now. We have long term plans for land management to re train this property into a future harvestable hard wood grove. Vine chocked trees, a big section of ash grove that was all dead stand from the ash beetle, and a clear cut section that was followed by bad management practices. We have been working the woods for Three years now and have a out 1/3 the property back on track, but a long road ahead because we are getting into the worse part, and believe it or not, getting this access road in, despite the current mess, is a big step for us to be able to continue the work.
