The label is crooked because Tom worked for a bottling company that deducted skewed labels from their pay. When he created his own, he decided that he would be a rebel and make all labels skewed, so he had this designed.

My Physical Therapist and I made a deal. She likes bourbon so I said if she gets me walking like a normal person again after my knee injury, and I'd buy her a bottle of her favorite bourbon. This was what she wanted. I bought two; one for her, and one for me. She has almost earned her bottle.... and I am half way thru mine. I love the spicyness of this drink, some citrus, sweetness, and oakness. I think this may become my new standard.

Even though taste is completely subjective, if there's anything that almost anyone who has tried Bulleit can agree on is the spiciness/black pepper note. I had a hard time choosing by first bourbon (the only American whiskey I have tried is Jack) today, it was between Evan Williams Extra Aged, Bulleit Bourbon or Maker's Mark, I went with the Bulleit and I'm not disappointed, very good stuff.
@2putt4sure855 жыл бұрын
Neat - The orange notes are predominate in the smell, very strong to my nose I could only pick up the notes from a distance. Upon taste I get sweetness followed by a strong peppery spice that goes away and the sweet orange taste returns on the finish. With water it opened up the orange to a more fruity flavor. On the rocks it really mellowed out and toned down the spices.

So I picked up a bottle of this and I’m not quite sure what to make of it. I know that there’s a very big rye percentage in this but I can’t compare it to other rye whiskies since I haven’t tried any others. How you compare this to say Woodford Rye or Sazarac Rye? I do enjoy this whiskey a lot though I just haven’t made up my mind up about it.
@TheNamesDust6 жыл бұрын
Josh Montes uhhh from what ive hear those ryes are pretty mild. Hell as a rye this bourbon if pretty mild. It really depends on your taste. If you want super sweet bourbons, go with makers mark or george dickel no. 12, which still has some rye but only a hint. If you like that heat and that spice to it like i do, bulleit rye or knob creek rye are the way to go.

One of your comments (I think about syrup?) reminded me of something I've been meaning to ask: why don't any of the good whisk[e]y channels review those honey flavoured whiskey-based liqueurs? That'd be entertaining, just to see what you guys think. I've never actually tried one but I'm thinking I might give Wild Turkey's offering a shot? There's something about that bottle...it's like it's begging me to drink it lol. Usually I don't like anything too sweet but bourbon is generally sweet anyway and they must be popular for a reason. They're about 35% ABV but then again, so is Jager and I fucking love Jager but it's more like a special occasion drink rather than something I reach for often.
@TheWhiskeyDictionary6 жыл бұрын
The most likely reason (at least the reason for me) is that it's not technically "Whiskey". I've had a few distilleries contact me asking me to review their whiskey, then they talk to me about flavored whiskey... which by definition, isn't a whiskey. If I were to review something like Fireball, I'd get a bit of a backlash from people who love GOOD bourbon and scotch. That all being said? You should ABSOLUTELY buy that bottle if it speaks to you. They're not very expensive, so it's a small risk! Enjoy!
@skippy86966 жыл бұрын
I understand where you're coming from. I didn't mean that these liqueurs would become frequent features with detailed reviews on every bottle, God no... but more like one or two simply addressing the topic - you could joke about or maybe you might like one, who knows. Just curious what the seasoned pros actually think. I see them in the store, think for a brief second and then I'm like, 'nah' and reach for a regular whiskey. I might try a mini just so I don't get stuck with a big bottle I can't stand. When they first got big in Australia I thought they were gimmicky but they're real popular, so I doubt they're going anywhere any time soon either. And naturally you could explain that they're not technically whiskies and the vid is just for kicks/curiosity but seeing as most of the big bourbon brands have their version of one, I would think they'd be [sorta] relevant? Idk, maybe it's just me. Thanks for the reply!
