Hey mate, not sure if this is helpful at all, but I work as a jeweller, after casting we drop our metal in to a dry acid. This removed any oxides from casting as well as getting off any flux residue. Might help your cleanup time go a little quicker 👍 Just pool cleaner (ph down) in a 5 liter bucket you'd use about 100 grams of the powder. Mix with boiling water and let it sit. Don't let steel touch it or it will leave a black oxide on everything you put in there

the missing 28 grams could be explained through the green flame you saw on the forge. Brass being a alloy of copper and zinc, in oxidation could have seperated out some of the copper from the brass alloy. Since copper, or more specifically copper sulfate burns a green flame.

My wife works for a sporting goods store and they are still selling ammo at pre 2020 prices but just limit it to 1 box per customer and are making profit just fine on it. Typically a crate of 5.56 or 9mm sells out within 2 or 3 hours so it is instant return. Distributors and retailers are taking advantage of production shortfalls and serious increase in market demand. Once the 7 million new gun owners interest in shooting wanes and people who have been buying and hording any chance they get have a stockpile of more ammo than they have shot in the last 20 years (I know ppl who have bought thousands of rounds and havent fired their weapon more than a couple times) the supply with go back up and profiteers will evaporate further stabilizing the market, it might take another 8-24 months tho.

The problem is, it's not really cost-effective to spend an entire days of work to make $10, unless you have a KZbin channel where a single video like this can generate thousands of dollars.

@@southpawsunited8643 Yeah as a hobby, if you just do it for the fun and don't mind spending thousands of Dollars on equipment & tools, and spending half a day or a full day making something that's worth like 10-20 dollars, don't get me wrong the Bars and Coins are cool and all, but finding old junk and recycling it will lose you money not gain money.

THe missing weight makes sense; the green fire implied a bit of the copper(possibly copperoxide?) was being burned off. The brick turned out very nice, and I'm now finding myself wondering wether or not he will meld the steel caps as well... From what I can tell, most of the steel looks to me end caps for 12- and 20- gauge shells, I might be wrong but it's a curious thing to note.

I probably spent if I remember correctly about $7AUD In propane, or very close to that. This channel I do is just a hobby so I don’t mind if it cost me a few dollars here and there and that’s why I don’t mind spending $5 in gas and two hours of my time making an $8 bar of copper👌🏻
