Quick question for ya Blaine. If i use weber ocr as my base scratch coat will a four to one plus half bag of lime be ok for a top coat with pebble dash or would i be risking cracking afterwards.. I'm concidering using the webbing that you've used to help strengthen exterior render. Maybe this over kill but any advice from you would be greatly appreciated.. Cheers buddy..

I'm about give it a go. Can you plaster over it? I've chimney breast with log burner and i was going to use it there, also one of the walls in same room looks a bit week and i was going to do exactly the same. Weber OCR with mesh. Or would you recommend just to use hardwall with mesh ?? Thanks for any advice

I've got some patching to do that's only 5-6mm on the side of my house can I use ocr and mesh as just a one coat system. I am then going to tyrolena it.
@kevtube6912 күн бұрын
Hi bud. I’m using this OCR for the first time. I scratch coated all my extension a couple of weeks ago and put a second coat on 1 wall last weekend (neighbours side) and i had problems with air bubbles trapping behind the second coat. Any idea why this was? I’m a joiner by trade. I’ve done a few sand ,cement and lime jobs in the past with no bubble issues!?????

Hi Blaine, I love this channel it is superb. I do have a quick question matey. Is it possible to do a full gable end of the house in two stages or would that produce a noticeable line? Not as young as I used to be and it is a big wall to cover :). I know it will be fine for the base coat but was just wondering if by doing it in two stages for the top coat over a couple days will give me visible break point lines in my top coat. Last thing you want really is a visible line where the two have been joined together.
@gracebateman7773 ай бұрын
Shame he didn't see your question and answer. What did you do in the end and how did it go?
@philharrison78463 ай бұрын
@@gracebateman777Has to be done in one go mate really. I managed to rope in some help and had 2 of us on it. I did test out the '2 stage process' on a small wall and I could get it very close to be honest doing it in 2 stages a few days apart but I could still see a join so all in one is the way to go if you want it looking perfect.

@@PlasteringForBeginners First off thank you for your reply and secondly. .... I'm tackling the replastering of my house ie.. chipping of the render then scratch coating and finally re-pebble dashing it and the confidence I have gained is from watching your uploads over the past few years. Thank you for taking the time to make/edit the videos, upload and share your trade skills/talent.. Best wishes to you buddy and thank you..

I have a question. I'm about to render a housefront. Re scratch coat. I prime and do a scratch coat. Next day do I re prime? Or go onto the dry scratch coat with second hit? My concern is it drying on me too fast but being too green /bad practice to prime both coats? Is it too soon to prime again after only 1 day? Is it necessary ?
@PlasteringForBeginners9 ай бұрын
Hi mate. Just house the Render down before applying your top coat. No need for primer. Just a decent coat of water

one thing, use a tape measure to measure the length of the mesh,
@gteaz9 ай бұрын
It's faster to pull the mesh up and cut the bottom. We mesh different to the vid, we don't cut mesh 1st, we apply 3-5mm 1st coat Eco rend in a mesh section, pull mesh up, serrate in with edge bar, cut mesh and comb if needed.
