As a new fan catching up on your older videos, I’m impressed by how much you’ve grown-not just in content, but in mastering the art of conversation without endless eye contact!

I use to be coached by a Brazilian black belt from a Gracie Barra. We would never learn leg locks not even the defense which was not helping my game. It wasn’t until I ventured off to other gyms and got comfortable with them. I think the American gyms that teach leg locks are way ahead of any other. End the fight quick

You gotta learn them, that’s for sure.

Leg locks don’t work imo. No technique needed, only based on strength, should be illegal imo

Dean, I tend to agree. Have you trained JJ before?

That was the standing joke, "Your game is based on leg locks, because you can't pass guard".

Heel hooks and toe holds should be considered and held with the same contempt as as wrist locks. Prove me wrong

Not a fan of them, don't like watching leg entanglements either, it's so boring and looks so stupid... but I do think it is a fad that will permanently be part of BJJ in smaller doses, but like New Wave and others are showing, once everyone knows the defense we're going back to upper body attacks. BJJ has a cyclical nature of what's "in", then everyone eventually learns to defend it, and moves on to something that is old school but has been forgotten by newer players. Learn to defend leg locks and know when to tap, it's brutal in the sense that it can really ruin your life, and I'm all for banning it for lower belts and dojos not letting their beginners do them or have them put on them. Lots of people have FAFO with leg locks and reaping. If someone goes for my ankle/knee, I'll remember to go for their wrists.

Tell me you get wrecked by leglocks without telling me you get wrecked by leglocks.. 😂 A kimura is dangerous af, but we teach kimura's on day 1. It's all about having a healthy training room where ppl aren't ripping on subs, and you check your ego enough to tap when you're in checkmate

@golden_bjj You really just ignored 90% of that comment to just say get good.
