It's the guns. It's easy access to the weapons. I was raised on the Leeward side. We never had a gun problem. Never worried about things like this happening to our homes. Never worried about our safety when walking to school on Farrington Hwy. Hawaii has become as dangerous as the mainland in relation to gun violence. It's tragic. It doesn't have to be this way.

Most places in the mainland don’t have a gun violence problem, you are thinking of large cities like LA and New York, everyone has guns in the rural areas of the mainland and there is no gun violence problem there, Waianae has a violence and poverty problem and it’s getting worse it was only a matter of time before they figured out it was more efficient to shoot someone than to try and beat them up

Based on the second shot and how it pierced the microwave after two wood panels, I doubt this was a 9mm hand gun bullet, maybe 223. Also it appears they are on the second floor. The angle of entry on both those shots was not downward which would be the case if someone just shot into the sky and it was a stray bullet coming down. These rounds seem to have been shot from below pointing towards the house. A shot coming down would more likely come through the roof or at a steep angle down through the wall, scary! Glad no one was hurt.

All signs point to an intentional targeting of the house. Nothing but scrubs who like ack big.

In this case, it seems like it would make more sense to get bullet proof home siding than use a weapon to return fire. Unless you hate your neighbors.

Hawaii lacks a positive gun culture and does not have a culture of respect for the second amendment, they see guns as the enemy and therefore it becomes something only used by criminals

Hawaii has the worst gun control. People need to protect themselves from those who have firearms illegally.

You obviously don't know how gun laws are in other states. Hawaii actually has some of the strictest gun laws in the entire country, also some of the lowest levels of gun violence in the country. Yeah we have shootings here, but nothing compared to most other states.

TheyDO have to worry about that stuff since it happened… there’s shootings around here all the time. Just because it didn’t happen to them before, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t worry. And how do they know those were stray bullets and not intentional bullets?

Sad ,how Hawaii does not know how bullets sound like ,also I did not see anyone stating the mayor cardinal rule ,safety and knowledge about guys. And yet, a lot of people are carrying and using It on a daily basis. Why don't you guys educate those who don't know and let them know what to do if anything like this happens. The state is really bad at taking accountability. That the main reason they have so may law suits, smh !!! State safe gang 🙏
