Please check out my new book Free Range Survival Chickens. This is, in my opinion, the most comprehensive book on how to successfully free range chickens available: a.co/d/i4dKQlz My review of the .25 Airforce Condor, used 2016 model, 120fpe top power, stock except for a Talon Tunes tophat and a Talon Tunes Get 6 Shroud.
Welcome to Florida Bullfrog's Hunting Old Florida! This channel is about homesteading, farming, hunting, fishing, camping and life in rural Florida. I am an 8th generation Floridian. My family has been in Florida since the early 1800s. I am a member of a nearly extinct ethnicity called the Florida Crackers. We were the first American settlers of Florida after the Spanish and the Seminole. Our culture is defined by a strong tie to the woods and wild places of Florida. Unfortunately, development and a massive population growth has destroyed most of Old Florida, and what little bit is left is slipping away fast. The Cracker cannot and will not survive once Florida's wild places become relegated to a few parks and public areas. Please join me as I chronicle what little bit of Old Florida Cracker culture is left before it fades away into extinction.

I have the condor ss in .25 with a polished aftermarket tophat with the inserts. The reason for choosing the shorter gun was to negate the flex in the longer gun, then adding the weight of the aftermarket suppressor at the barrle end when the weak point like you said is at the bottle housing Exaggerates frame flex. Also for Many people shooting mostly pellets had keeps the feet per 2nd down around that magic number that pellets love much easier. My .25 ss with 18" barrel With the medium insert Is shooting the 33.9 grain MKII JSb's at 875fps and usually 1"-1.2" groups at 100 starting at around 2800 psi

Add a Talon Tunes Quad Rail and it locks up the entire barrel tight with the frame. I have a .22 that will drill 1/2” at 100 yards all day when tethered to a step down in-line reg. Using 27-32 grain .2175” Griffin RBT slugs it’s phenomenal. I’ve owned .257 with Lilja 1:14 for 72 grain. The 1:17.5 twist can handle the 28-32 quite well. Ideally at 940-1080 you’re set. My barrel is also still choked but lapped. .2170” might work for different barrels

My Condor in .25 caliber has no trouble making tight groups at 50 yards using JSB pellets (I like the Express JSB). It's damn loud though . . . as mine is not suppressed. Lately I've been experimenting with Predator GTO .25 caliber at 16.54 grains. The groups get a little wider but holy cow talk about loud. Much louder than a .22 rimfire. I'm fairly certain the pellet would pass through any medium size game animal using the GTO. That's probably not a good thing as energy is not fully transferred. Which is why I like the Predator with the ballistic tip . . . it penetrates then expands. Accuracy is more than adequate. The accuracy on your gun is VERY impressive.

The .30 Flexes I have are still performing well. My long Flex, which I have never reviewed on my channel, gave me some frustrations but those seem to be worked out now. My short Flex, which is the Flex I reviewed, has been totally upgraded to current specs. I now run it with a red dot site instead of a scope to save weight. Its my most versatile woods-walking gun for everything except deer.

Am excellent review on this model! I just (sent u a PM) ,aged to get myself (well unfortunately only in 0.22Cal) the Shadow which was marketed in the UK but the export model and FAC model only, so it's not been modified at the factory to remove the hammer adjustment. it was sitting on the shelf in the shop for almost ten years and they sold it to me at a 50% off price LOL! The barrels in perfect condition and should be a good project to get running after all this time. Why is the breech made from plastic?

Thanks again for the videos because you provide a lot of good knowledge and first hand experience.

It was a couple of reasons. One was I wanted a magnum powered .25. Another was because I wanted to own an Airforce style gun after liking my brother’s Texan. And finally I’ve got to the point where I’d have multiple airguns set up for different tunes and purposes than one or two I try to use as all purposes.

@@Florida_Bullfrog - Thanks for the honest answer! Even though I have a couple high end PCP's and a bunch of mid level (300-$600) PCP's I can't stop thinking about the AF rifles like the Condor in .25. I probably wouldn't use it much for hunting, but mainly for 100+ yard target and field shooting. I want something that I can refine into a powerful and accurate target gun. Do you think I would be happy with the Condor or should I be looking more at the Texan in say .308? Sorry for the long reply, but I have come to value your knowledge and honest answers! Stay safe Brother

The newest .25 Condors are beasts with their factory valving. 120-130fpe easy with cast bullets. Those would probably be decent long range guns. But I don’t shoot mine that far and the Texan platform is tested and proven at long range. I’d look into a .308. I’m also hearing, but cannot confirm, that .308 and .257 Texans are identical except for the barrel. If that’s true, you could buy one and switch back and two with an extra barrel.

Bullfrog, are you shooting the 33.94gr JSB's or the 25gr JSB's? Also, have you found the magic combo of FPS/FPE to maximize accuracy? I have the same gun (HIGHLY modified) and I'm pushing the 33.94 pellets at 930 FPS at the muzzle. I know if you shoot a pellet too fast, it will destabilize in flight and spin off. And if you shoot it too slow, it will do the same. So, have you played around to find the best combination to maximize accuracy? I'm more interested in the long range stuff. That's why I modified the heck out of my gun. I agree with all of the issues that you pointed out, but many can be overcome by aftermarket upgrades. Thank you for the review however. I enjoyed it.
@Florida_Bullfrog

I'm shooting the 25 gn JSBs when the gun is tuned for around 50-55fpe. It loves them. That seems to be about the best balance between speed, quietness, power, and shot count. I have shot the gun very little at 100 yards, although on good days I get touching groups at 100 yards on my gong target both at low (55fpe) and high power (120fpe w/ slugs).

Do you like this Condor better than you do your 30 caliber Texan.. which should I break down and buy
@Florida_Bullfrog
@Florida_Bullfrog 5 жыл бұрын
I like my .308 Texan SS more. It is more versatile. But it also depends on whether you plan to hunt larger game or not. The .25 Condor can do everything the .30 can do on smaller animals and do it more quietly and with less air per shot. The .25 is even fine for coyote lung shots when turned up to max power and shooting hollowpoint slugs. My brother has killed several coyotes with his 2018 Condor and 60 grain slugs. Some die within 20 yards, others 100 yards on lung shots. I’ve had the same results with firearms. Coyotes are just tough. You would want the newest Condor you can get because it would have the best valving. But if you want to hunt deer, you can still hunt smaller animals with the .30 Texan shooting pellets then crank the power up for deer hunting.

@Florida_Bullfrog
@Florida_Bullfrog 5 жыл бұрын
The long version will give you more power and a larger shot count. It will just be longer and more bulky. I can’t vouch for pellet performance in the long .308. I think the long and short versions may have different twist rates. You’d want to talk to an Airforce employee to be sure. They’ll take questions like that if someone calls them. Just don’t ask their opinions on pellet performance. They think none of the Texans shoot pellets well. They didn’t design them to be pellet shooters. I think its just good luck that the .308 (at least the SS) is a good pellet shooter. Seems like I’ve seen other reviewers get good pellet groups with the long .357 as well. Either way, defiantly get the SS or LSS versions, now that the long ones can also come with factory suppressors there isn’t a reason to buy the naked long gun. The factory suppressors have a larger volume and slide back on the shroud further than aftermarket suppressors. A LSS will be easier to handle than a naked .308 with an aftermarket shroud.

Mine also loves the 33.94 gr JSB's. But there's a reason for that. They have a much better ballistic coefficient than the 25gr JSB's. But everything has a caveat. The heavier models tend to be more accurate, but they drop faster over distance. So you need more hold over. My gun is fully custom. Bullfrog hit the nail on the head when he described how hold sensitive the guns are. The way to overcome this is to order a 1 piece stock from Mad Dog rifle stocks. Also, make sure you have a SOLID bipod, like a Harris or Atlas. I also bought a regulator for mine that regulates air pressure between the tank and the valve assembly. This made a HUGE difference regarding accuracy as it eliminates the "bell curve" that plagues unregulated air rifles. Unfortunately if you regulate the gun, you can't shoot the cast bullets. The pre-chamber doesn't allow for enough air to be released to propel a 65gr slug down range. However, it is more than adequate to propel a .22 slug down range. And once you step into the world of slugs, you step into a new world regarding BC and long range accuracy. My biggest hurdle is finding the best FPS to shoot the gun at. There's no doubt in my mind the absolute best, most stable pellet is the 33.94gr JBS Kings. However, there's a magic FPS/FPE combo that maximizes stability and efficiency. I'm still playing with numbers looking for that number. If anyone has found it, please chime in. Currently my gun is shooting the 33.94gr JSB's at 930fps. With the gun regulated, and a larger capacity (250 BAR) carbon fiber tank from Talon Tunes, I get 31 shots before the regulator cuts out.
