Sew along with me as I finish my bullseye quilt. I quilted, added binding, washed and dried. Love all those raw edges! Lots of soft texture.
How to make the quilt blocks HERE - • Bullseye quilt | raw e...
*It was brought to my attention that a pattern for this block was published by Mary Etherington and Connie Tesene in the book - "Quilts from Aunt Amy" published in 1999. I am not sure how my directions differ from the original, since I was inspired by the many bullseye quilts I have seen.....but want to give credit where credit is due.
My quilt has 5 1/2" borders all around. I measures 55" x 55"

I love watching you create such lovely quilts. I’m a beginner and have watched many videos about finishing one but they are all very patronising or classroom like! You are a good teacher and I feel confident that I could complete a quilt with your video as a support 👍

Hi Beth, I have been watching you for awhile, loving each video. Today I just realized why, the fact that you never worry about things being perfect. I wish more people would quilt like this, because it makes it less stressful, more enjoyable and each masterpiece more unique when there are a few boo boo. So thank you for not being a perfectionist like so many others!

I sew my binding exactly like you, I think it is the easiest method. once I have the initial stitching of binding on, I then press the seam to the other side, it makes sure all the binding is rolled to the other side. I have found this method very helpful and eliminates any creases that might have otherwise been left.assuring I have enough binding to stitch down on the front.

I made this quilt about 20 years ago. The pattern was from a book called Quilts from Aunt Amy published in 1999. The only difference was that I was instructed to cut away the excess fabric from the back side of the block after attaching each circle. It gave me a lot of circles which allowed me to make a second quilt using slightly smaller backgrounds.

I love your backing fabric! I do my sandwich the same way on my kitchen island. We are actually taking the island out of the kitchen, (it's to big for the space), and I told my husband I want it in my sewing room!! Lol! It's so nice not to have to work on the floor! I have loved raw edge quilts ever since I did the inside out jelly roll quilt. I have already made 3 of the jelly roll. And now I will be making this one! 😊

@@user-tv1fp1pl3c I don't remember if it was Beth, or if it was the Sewing Channel. It was a few months ago. Super easy!!! Instead of sewing right sides together w the seams on the inside of the quilt, you sew wrong sides together so the the seams are on top. Press all seams open as you go. And it helps to back stitch since your seams will be exposed. Them after making your sandwich, sewing a wide zig zag stitch down all the long seams and then around the outside border. Trim 1/4" from outside border seam. No need to bind. Wash on hot water, high agitation. Remove from washing machine, lay flat and trim all the scraggly threads that are created in washing. Tumble dry. I use flannel as the backing and no batting. It makes a super soft super drapey blanket that is just perfect for cuddling on the couch or taking an afternoon nap!

@@user-tv1fp1pl3c You're so very welcome!! 😊 Some ideas to use it for more then just jelly rolls..... My daughter loves elephants, and some of my elephant prints were larger. ( I buy lots of layer cakes but usually make my own jelly rolls). So I cut her strips at 3". And kept track of how many inches. I cut about 1770" for hers. And for my neighbor I took a layer cake, and just cut every square in half. Making 5x10 rectangles. Then cut the first one in 2/3 to start off the long run. Both came out amazing!

Beth I like this quilt but I think I'm going to sew 1 circle per square. Cut it into 4 pieces and change it out with other squares. To reduce the bulk of added 2 other circles. It will change the look of the individual squares. with 3 circles per square. But I think it might look okay. Thanks for sharing this video and giving me this idea.
