I have put wrist loops on all of mine. I keep the wrist loop and one of the bellies as one piece. I braid the wrist loop in the middle of the strands, then temporarily attach it to the handle at the end. Then continue braiding the belly with the tails of the wrist loop. I have had good success with both the first belly and the outer. But the more strands the wider the wrist loop. A four strand loop is a 8 plait belly. A six strand loop is a 12 plait belly. You can't cut the handle with this method, but I don't anyway even on the ones that don't have a wrist loop. When I started doing mine I wasn't sure what would be best, so I went with what I felt was strongest. You also have remember to add the length of the wrist loop to the strands of that belly. Great video! I have been curious to see how you do yours.

I would like to see that process. I have s general idea of how you are doing that. You confused me Alitalia by saying you tie the wrist loop in the middle of the belly?

Nick, I like all your videos, and you do great work!! I just wanted to mention that the natural bend of the whip should be taken into consideration when deciding what sides to attach the wrist strap to. It can be annoying (to me) if the strap is even a little twisted around your wrist because it is in the wrong place in relation to where you have to hold the whip because of its natural bend... Just another reason I quit making them on my whips. But great video! I admire the quality of work you do. Keep it up

Thanks Zachary, very good point! It's something I've honestly never considered, but I definitely will now.

Hey man! I've just started to get interested in whips. I have no experience in the past with whips but I have watched a couple of your videos and they have gotten me interested enough to want to actually purchase my first whip. I was just wondering what a great beginner whip for me to purchase would be? It doesn't have to be paracord and I've done some research and I would prefer maybe leather or some type of animal hide. what would be the specs of a good whip? I do have a martial arts back round so I won't be completely new to this sort of stuff. Thanx!
@jessebessette76198 жыл бұрын
wordbird35 I don't know if you're still interested and looking for a whip, but leather is not good for your first. the amount of extra care necessary is not good for beginners. I highly recommend you get a nylon one first. cheaper (if you find out whips aren't for you, you spent a lot less money) and much easier to maintain. go somewhere between six to 8 feet. shorter than that is really fast moving and can be hard for new people to control, while one longer than 8 feet can be tough because they're slower and tend to be heavier.

Jesse Bessette Thanx :D It's been a while since I commented that and I've since then bought three different whips. All nylon and different lengths. I even had a chance to crack one of them across the stage for one of my school's musical productions xD. But thanks for answering

With the red whip you made me, on the knot you can kinda see the golden sinew

Damn, for what he charges that's unacceptable. I'm sure if you sent it in he would fix it though.

Nice tutorial nick. Was wondering, have you tried 5 or 7 strand flat braid for the loop, gives a beefier more substantial look if that was something you wanted to try?

Hi! We love your videos. I have a young whip maker (12) who wants to know if you can please post a video showing how to use the yellow mesh tape or direct us to any one you may have already posted. Thanks!

Dude, you SERIOUSLY need to consider a job in voice work! Reading audio books, teaching manuals, films... ANYTHING! Your voice is AMAZING. It's soothing and relaxing. Please tell me that you're a teacher. I'd pay attention to everything you ever said. Also, please look into ice hockey stick tape. It's water resistant and it's just cloth with tape glue on one side. I use it for handle wraps for axes, knives and walking sticks. It's very nice in the hand and it comes in a HUGE verity of colours and paterns. HTH

Thank you so much for the tutorials. I also use leather for the heel knot foundation, I find an electric stapler with 3/8" brad nails save me time and fingers. You've been such an inspiration, thought the least I could do is share my little trick with you. BTW, how many women do you know that make whips? (Besides me...lol ;-) )

They put a place to click below your video to buy a bullwhip or a snake whip, POed over the fact that they're not yours. Why are they putting other people's whips on your site? I have 1000 foot roll of 550 that is supposed to be here tomorrow, Time to see if I can get one to resemble yours

Because you state over and over again that you just use tap to temporarily hold artificial sinew or whatever it maybe in place. Yet you never go back and remove the tap. How do you justify that as temporary ? So what is a procedure to use where your not using any plastic tap or How were whips made 100 years ago when no type of tap existed ?

Why do people want a wrist loop on their whip? when cracking a whip, the whip has no tugging force so there would be no chances of the whip slipping out of your hand in mid crack unless you purposely let go of the whip.

+NicksWhipShop butcher, you know, you are a refined butcher but your inner butcher shines through at times...like not covering your vise when pressing the whip, dropping things, nails, and such. you should see my first and only whip to see what a butcher means lol. that said, you have obviously come a long way and you are close to killing the butcher inside of you. your vids are a great resource and my ugly whip that cracks, foundation knot and all thanks you, and you are most generous for sharing your craft and skills. thanks for that.
