No problem I’m glad you like it. I’m sure it will work great for sunfish no question. I think it’s a trout fly but as any fly, it should work for multiple species. Let me know how it works for you.

@@McFlyAngler it looks easy to do too. As you know, i am new to fly fishing and tying flies. The easier the better lol.
@McFlyAngler2 жыл бұрын
Hey even if your not new, easy and quick is good as well. There are “guide” style flies for that reason. Guides aren’t new to this, they just want something quick to tie so they don’t have their customers loose too many flies that take too long to tie. Simple is always better as long as they still catch. Haha!
@jeffjackson53312 жыл бұрын
@@McFlyAngler lol that is true lol. I will go over to see Ryan and buy the ready made flies that are involved to tie.
@McFlyAngler2 жыл бұрын
Yeah for sure. He has good flies. If ever you want some custom flies (like flies you can’t find in shops, color specifications and such) let me know, I do sell custom flies. Otherwise for sure, local fly shops need business right now, and if you can, first buy from Risen. Good people

This is a solid performer and very easy to tie. I was initially concerned when I saw the length of the video, though! My first thought was “How fancy is this thing going to be to take half an hour to tie?”
@McFlyAngler4 жыл бұрын
HAHA! Well there are 6 of them. LOL. I totally agree its a long video. One of my longest for fly tying. But luckily someone can just stop watching after the first one if they want, or decide to keep watching and listen to me ramble to see it tied multiple times. Glad you gave it a chance Jay. :)

McFly Angler Thanks Shawn! Yeah, it’ll be a treat being able to see the stars at night and there’s no place like the high desert in Utah for star gazing. They’ve had some fires in the Uinta and closed the road to my favorite fishing spot but there still plenty of water to fish.

The bully fly is from Bolivar mo. How the name came up was he was fishing a pond and the resident bull came down behind and he got hooked on the back cast. The bull kept the fly. My wife's family is from Bolivar.🎣🤠. lot's of luck Dave Hughes.

That is a "Bully`s Bluegill Spider" Fly, created by Terry and Roxanne Wilson in 1968, except with an extended body. Many people have taken that fly and monkeyed with it, trying to tweak it, but never made it better. The original recipe can`t be beat.

I noticed this is a year old. But your first video for me. The camera and personal format is great. I like the extra information and step by step. God bless.

You mentioned you put the lead on all of that hooks first. Are there other time saving tips you have for this fly and others for when you are tying up a batch?

No I think I mentioned it all... for this fly at least.... I use a bobbin holder for my lead, I find that saves time and also wastes less lead.

Do you need the lead?
@McFlyAngler2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you could use lead free wire if you want, but you would need a little more. I know of some people who use tunsten putty, or a couple tungsten beads. But easiest is just lead, you need that weight for it to sink rearward…
