We breed European GSDs (show line only). Our older male has SCH3 (IGP3 equivalent) with our breeding females having IPO1 (IGP1 equivalent). You're correct, the working lines are a usually much easier to train. We only show our dogs at SV (USCA and GSDCA) events with our male receiving V1 at a U.S. national show and his daughter an SG2 (before her IGP training). Although we don't train our dogs ourselves for !PO, we get them ready with the basics before sending them for their formal training.This video was very informative. Thank you.

average GSD life is anywhere between 8 - to 15 years...mine passed at 10 years old...quote: "police dog is a very demanding and dangerous job that can affect the dog’s body and even its own life. Police dogs risk their lives every day and can die early on duty. We’ve seen fallen K9s that have passed at 3, 5, and 6 years of age"...and to boot, the dogs train everyday not just on patrol...it's like a long-distance runner that keeps running and running for years and years; after a while his body take a toll on his knees, ankles, hips etc...

How does it matter? A reward is a reward. Can be a treat, can be a toy, can be your voice... A good trainer knows how and when to use all. And it should not matter if she impresses you as long as she and her dog gets it right 😅
