When I was younger I was always confused why older translations called her Briefs. As I got older it never made sense. Thank you for this video, it explains a lot. People need to understand that Briefs isn’t her last name. It never was. I mean no DB character has last names. I always saw it as a way (for dubs or early translation) to basically make her give more meaning with a name,

I remember DBZ having the original US DVD singles releases with 3-4 episodes on a disc. There were releases of both the edited and uncut. You just had to read the cases thoroughly. Yes, back in the day, the edited dub version called Mr Satan Hercule, but on the uncut dub DVD, he was called Mr Satan. Now Funimation dropped the Hercule name in the dub anime, but it's still kept in the Viz manga and the video games. But I never heard Vegeta's last name being Breigh until now. That's really new to me.

Well in the english dub of the trunks special bulma called Trunks "Trunks Breifs." So maybe that made them jump the gap and assume her last name was also Breifs. Plus Dr. Briefs would make people assume that was his last name so there are things like the that could make people just assume she'd shared that name.

You made a mistake. In French Mr Satan is called Hercule not Savage. In Bojack Inbound they then said his name was Hercule Satan. That’s because they changed Piccolo’s name to “Satan Petit Cœur” in Dragon Ball back in the late 80’s early 90’s. Then in “Bojack Unbound” they called him Hercule Satan. That’s probably where the US did got the name from since Dragon Ball was dubbed in France since 1988. Maybe you saw that in a Quebec version but it’s not really French, it’s is own things.
