I bought another Polaris Scrambler 400 and it is in rough shape. In this video I disassemble the badly damaged engine. Slotted Nut Socket
This special socket must be used to remove the slotted
nut on the crankshaft mag end of the 400L engine.

You mention needing a rod and bearing. How does the rod come off the crank and is this something that could be done at home? I ask, because I worked on a Yamaha, where the crank pin was welded and required an entire assembly. I'm am curious if Polaris is the same way?

Specialized tools and knowledge are required to rebuild the crankshaft. I don't think I've ever heard of a welded crankshaft from the factory, but anything is possible, I guess. I have a video series where I disassembled the crankshaft and installed a new bearing and rod. Polaris 400 engine rebuild. there are 4 parts. I believe it was part 3. look in my playlist for Polaris 400L

Mr fix do you know if the polaris 250cc stator is the same of the 350l?

thats a wiseco number on the piston, i know the 2nd number has to do with wrist pin size , and the last 4 are the diameter - (in this case 84.00), i think the M is either motorsports or Mild/Moderate. Ive been looking for exact details on thier nomenclature but havent found anything yet.

The first three numbers designate the piston application, the "M" is the piston series, and the last 5 numbers is the piston's bore size. That's the actual coding on a Wiseco M-series piston.

Hello mr. Can you please write me type of thread what are you using for pulling secondary (driven) clutch ? I have xplorer 400 2000, and here in europe i need to make some tool because I dont have at home any other than metric bolts...

I'm not sure what the thread pitch is but you can find the tool on ebay.

I made a rookie mistake while disassembling my son's Scrambler engine and didn't mark the balancer shaft and it's gear prior to disassembly. 1. How should the balancer weight be orientated in relation to the dot on the the face of the balancer gear?

align the dot on the crank gear with the dot on the balancer gear
