I think the reason why there isn’t a lot of sympathy for the assassination attempt is the fact that for decades there have been mass shootings and the main response from people like Trump (including his “get over it” statement about the Iowa school shooting) is that it’s the cost of living with a 2nd amendment. So this is the logical conclusion of that attitude for decades so why should we feel worse for him than he did for the Iowa victims.

I disagree with Amanda. I feel it's his family's responsibility to check on him and get him help, not the American people. After all he has put this country through as well as his penchant for playing the victim, I feel it would be playing into his hand to have national conversations about whatever trauma he may or may not have suffered. If you're concerned about him in that regard as well as any collateral damage the country will suffer if, God forbid, he IS elected in November, I suggest sharing your thoughts with your contacts in the Republican party and encourage them to get him help. Amanda made a fair point about realizing how traumatized Trump actually is and being concerned with the lack of empathy extended to him which could policy consequences if elected, but you get what you give. Trump has never extended empathy to anyone. We don't have to be cruel or anything, but extending empathy or even sympathy to Trump is wasted effort. You get what you give.
