As a white woman, I am furious at my fellow women. It’s one thing for men to not care about women’s rights, it’s quite another when women vote against the well being of women. Also…. Please please let’s not diminish that racism and misogyny played in this election. We must NOT keep ignoring this. I think this accounts for MANY of the non-voters… they didn’t want to vote for Trump, but also did not want to vote for a (black) woman. It’s just not going to show up in the polls. I'm pretty sure it all comes down to social media, between the Russians, Chinese, Musk, and now Facebook along with Fox it's a wonder people get any true information. We needed to take what happened in 2016 much more seriously and not allowed MAGA to normalize their narrative full of complete falsehoods. They have killed the first amendment, I have always understood people's right to burn flags, dress up and 'reenact' certain sides, etc etc. This is different though, free speech doesn't mean someone should be allowed to convince people that a cabal is using space lasers to burn forrests with the help of their minions in government who spread dead leaves around as kindling. MAGA is a disgrace and we've allowed them to define their own reality.

To me, all these theories about why people voted for Trump are excruciating to listen to. They ignore the gigantic illogical elephant in the room, and missing the bigger problem. Look at it like this.. In an ideal world, you would want the best person possible as President. If you were to rank every single US citizen by their suitability for the Office, I don't know who would be number 1. But I do know who's name would be dead last. It's easy to argue this on any metric. Even a child would understand why Trump should never be let anywhere near any position of power. Yet half the electorate fail to make this simple observation. How about Gaza?... I think this issue probably convinced some young college-educated Democrats to stay home (writing from Canada, and afraid that PP will be our next PM 😣)

Scott Galloway has been shouting about this for years. Young people have NO CHANCE of achieving the American dream. They know they will NEVER own a home.

Butthurt over inflation. I mean, compared to orther first-world nations we really did OK. But half of all bread eaters score below average on standardized IQ tests, and here we are.

Young people not voting always confounds me because it is their future on the line.
@jennifernorthcutt6462Сағат бұрын
I have had a few tell me that they don't vote because voting is a scam. Honestly in Texas for me it kind of does feel like that because they suppress voting & disenfranchise as many people as they can. It is hard to make a difference here because they all only listen to MAGA talking points. I spend so much time telling them how to find the truth but I can't make them read the truth or even listen to the truth.

Basically what you’re saying is women sold their rights for the price of eggs how disgusting is that?
@corbinh20372 сағат бұрын
This comment has a very profound parallel.. The price of eggs over the rights of her own eggs.

What he's saying about voters against Harris because of the economy. Proves what I've said for decades. That is that most Americans have no idea how economics actually works. Especially what can be done about inflation. Presidents don't have magic wands to lower prices.

"Noncollege white women who supported abortion but were negative on the economy voted 2:1 Trump." But women who support Trump of course will express negative sentiments about the economy.

I was in DC in 1985 with CBS News when the inauguration was moved to inside the Capitol. It was very cold and there was a lot of snow. The parade was cancelled.

Thanks for saying the stuff that's hard to hear and actually downright depressing. I don't want to live in an information silo. We can't fix something if we don't know or accept that it's broken.

Right on about culture wars. Voters don't want to hear about gay and trans folks. Not because its not important, but simply because its not THEM.

I'm 80, this is something we've never seen before! However, our forefathers, grandparents, and parents saw things they could never have imagined. My dad fought in World war2, they relied on their leaders to get them through. We, are going to figure this out, just as George Washington, Abraham Lincolv, Roosevelt, John Kennedy to name a few. We just need to resist, stay focused, just like our forefathers did and hopefully great leaders will rise!

In the past the President would have had a fireside chat that was on national TV, which had very few competitors at the time. The President could have explained the economy in a way that people understood. Today we have such fragmented and politicized media that would have diluted and marginalized any similar messages we could have communicated today.

Ron said that, historically ,when voters are unhappy, they vote for the other party. What if the other party knew this and played on it. There is no question that the 118 th House of Representatives did as little as possible. And if price gouging is the cause of the higher prices, isn't it true that most big corporations lean toward Republican. Could this all have been planned to achieve the outcome of November 5, 2024?
