I have a 2002 GMC 2500 HD. 4 wheel Dr. It was rated at 1 ton but I had it knocked down to 3/4 ton to save money on plates. Mine is rusted out the same way. My bumper is rusted out also. Pa. is hard on vehicles. Isn't that a shame how they rust out. I have 30, 000 miles on mine. I have had the power steering go out twice. Pretty tough when you are by yourself. Great Job !

I just bought a dump trailer and first time it was loaded my 2500hd did the exact same thing. Also have a hitch and bumper on order. WOOOOOOO!

The truck looks clean other than the old hitch and bumper. Its ready for good work now for sure. Glad nobody got hurt.

That’s PA for yah all they do is salt the road and sometimes spray calcium before a good ice event. It takes a good toll on the vehicles around here.
@tomwaldo95563 жыл бұрын
@@OutsidewithScheib They do that here in Michigan.

Hello Sheib you’re now set up to haul tons of wood. I have only 1 suggestion for you. You should consider getting your truck oil sprayed to slow down the rust on the underside. I personally swear by Crown rust proofing

I’ll have to look into it thanks Mark

The way you did your repair and by the look of your truck there is a pride of ownership. I wouldn’t think the truck was that old. Cheers

On next weeks video, watch Scheib as he does this exact same thing to my truck! Just kidding. I am worried about my hitch now though. This same thing happened to my buddy so I may go ahead and replace mine now before something bad does happen. I know the rust is definitely getting to my truck.

I liked the disclaimer about breaking the bolts loose before you started the video. I know I have cussed, thrown tools, busted knuckles and walked away when working on rusted bolts. Truck and trailer looks ready to work now.
@OutsidewithScheib3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I guess it would have made great footage for a blooper reel.

That's a very common problem with those trucks. I have a tree service buddy who killed 2 of them on 2 trucks in the same day. Dump trailers are especially hard on hitches. Also be aware, because the curt hitch doesnt use the bumper for support it will actually start peeling the frame down. My 2002 gmc is doing that and the buddy who killed 2 of them had to have his frame plated.

Wasn’t terrible I am use to doing stuff by myself I don’t ask for help much unless I really need it.

I find it very weird that the bumper and hitch were that rusted out but your truck is not, I live in Michigan where salt is number one for snow and if that truck was here it would be rusted off the frame right now lol. I think your truck is pretty sweet, not many single cab dually trucks out there.
@OutsidewithScheib3 жыл бұрын
All the salt and dirt gets up in the bumper and hitch area and just sits there holding moisture doing damage the frame has some flaking but I think I am going to pressure wash it and give it a good coat of under coating.

Good warning for all of us. I would kinda laugh when I'd see a Chevy with the bumper and hitch bent down and wonder what kind of idiot, but then yesterday... I have a 2003 Chevy 1500hd, and live in Michigan! I've hauled this many round bales many times before, but when i got out to unload, the jack was resting on the ground. Fortunately is happened right in my yard. I found a pile of rust at the spot of failure. What was the part number for the Curt hitch? Where did you get the bumper from? Is the hitch working out pretty well?

Great job where was your cousin at when you needed another pair of hands?? You did a great job of editing the video.That set up looks better than new.Keep up the good work.How can I get a L t-shirt?

thanks, I have to put another order in but i am looking at a different route with a company that prints on demand that you could order from. still doing some research on them.

Well now that wasn’t so bad, was it? I mean, you sure made it look easy! I’m afraid to post too many repair vids... They would likely take too much time to edit😬 I occasionally go on a verbal rant that’s as profane as two teenagers trying to one-up each other🤪 It would look as foolish as a scene from an Adam Sandler movie! Nice hitch, Nice work Brother👍🏻 Bless’ns to ya!💪🏻🪓🌳🌲🦅🇺🇸
