72 hrs! I always do a routine HIV test on arrival so that day I came with her, took her the clinic, they took off the sample it was a Thursday so the lab guy told me results were not so good she he told me to go with her and bring her again in the morning for acomformatory test it also turned up positive and I had no one to stay with my kid that morning since we both me and my husband we had to go and work so my husband sucrificed that day and stayed home with both of them as we waited for Saturday when am off to take her back to her village but she went back home crying.

Another one was sleeping outside the main house, one week after her arrival we cought her with a boy and remember she was a sister to husbands friend who gave birth when she was at school so they wanted her to come make some capital then she goes back and she starts up as all business. So when Mr. found her with a man, he talked to her and left forgave her since it was outside home.,two weeks after she brought the same guy inside her bedroom and we found them having live sex.

The shortest time I have had was 3hours, she came and when I went the bedroom, she ran off. Payment for me is 80,000/= also with timely bonuses depending on impressive performance, for example, she washes the cartens, or the windows. The payments depends on your salary and as well the kind of work in your home. That's my opinion

At my home I never employ a maid less than 20 years. I need a mature. This time around I was brought a girl of 16 years. An orphan that I was suppose to be paying to her Aunt. I told them I only need someone for basic things like cleaning utensils and coming home earlier than me because I am always busy. I decided to enrol her in a nearby school. The girl is so Sharp. I encouraged her to assume she is at her mother's home .she should do the regular housework and focus on her study. I am a single parent of one. We are just three in our house. My son goes to school from 6 am to 6 pm. She goes to school at 7:30 am and comes back at 5:30 pm. She then prepares dinner which is always something light. Everybody has lunch from their school and me from my wherever. We converge home for dinner. I take full responsibility for my son except washing his uniform which the maid does. It's been two years. We are ok. I cannot have a minor stay with me and not do something useful for their lives. I don't need someone to stay 24/7 at my home.

These thgs of maids are both sides and am so sorry to many but mostly very high so educated ladies treat these people like nothing. Have lived in my sister's place who works with UN but my God what l saw changed me about the stories most of us have on maids. The maid was waking up at 5 to prepare kids for school and later prepare breakfast as everyone is sleeping, cooks, washes cloth, irons ,deals with kids after school and others, that she sleeps at 11 at night but still my sis would be still shouting at her.and out of all this she was earning 60000 sh,she eats last, and she had posho and beans to eat everyday aside that thg broke me that everytime l was on a table l couldn't swallow my food until l said l can't stay here anymore but u ask her about Maids she will tell u stories that me who knew the truth can hardly take in.

Hello bump love, thanks ladies for this topic I run an agency for domestic help but my biggest concern is, our society has categorically stereotyped all maids to be bad and unworthy so they're easily thrown under the bus. We need to change the narrative that way we will pay them their worth and also be able to understand that just like other employees in different places of work, good people also exist that can serve us right in our homes

This is really nice. As you discussed both sides. I personally think salaries play a role in maid misbehaviour. If we gave them more love and care they would work better but also if you asked them heart to heart why they are into business. You ladies are amazing. Growing up, our domestic managers have been in their 30s and 40s. We have been very fortunate to have really good ones, especially if they are more mature, they are great. We had a Ugandan one in her late 20s for 5 years who left to get married, another one for 10 years who left to become a farmer, and another one for five years who is still with us. We pay fees for their kids, on top of their salary. The shortest tenure, in her early 20s, lasted a month before she met the love of her life, a nearby watchman, on her way out she shopped some major items from our house to start their new life 😂

I have also ever been a maid in 2013 when I withdrew from university in my 2nd year so my friend connected me to a certain lady. I didnt mind doing that kind of job coz I grew up with a stepmum and I being the firstborn suffered with all the house chores. So that lady was staying in mutungo and I was at kyambogo university so i thought it that it would be nearer for me to commute from her home to university. I went to her home when the kid was in p.1 but I left when I was going to get married. So some bosses are good depending on the maid's character while other bosses are really terrible.

I have had mine for over 7years now from the time I had my first child. I treat her like my own daughter. My boys know her as their only sister. Although I brought her in as a nanny, I realized she performs better with the house chores so we switced roles. She loves the kids but can not handle well kids' issues. We have a great relationship with weaknesses here and there but manageable.

In 2008 I sent back a 13year old maid that had been sent to me from the village. I gave her money for school fees, uniform and books and had promised her that I would pay her until she completed S.4. Unfortunately never contacted me again. She reached the village and looked for the next person who was looking for a maid. 😢😢. When my daughter is on holiday I can even spend a week without entering the kitchen. When she is at school I am in the kitchen everyday coz I am a picky eater and I love preparing my meals. I take care of my 5 year old son.

Pumla has put into words my reflections on why a number of my house helps have failed to work for me; the differences in mindset are really something. And of course the patience wans easily when it comes to certain simple things that these twenty something year olds seem to fail to grasp and you're thinking, this is not a child! If I was financially better off, I would also be one of those people that don't keep live in helps. Some make you feel like you have to worry about your complaint not offending them, while they seem unconcerned about you, their boss being offended over washing utensils and they remain unclean. Sigh!

Seriously, this topic will keep popping at us. I think good maids are rare, now days we have those that come to cause havock at home. Agencies r making money, the more u go to different homes the more money they make. Yes I have had good maids but only those I got from village, agencies it's God'grace. The challenge with us bigger homes, u get two and oh my God? Not easy. But we do appreciate for sharing. Agencies don't know these girls. They just walk in and spend a day with them or hours. The trust be told, good or bad, we need to pray to land on the right person. Good character can be trained and learn. Good luck

We had one when we were kids, she was an adult lady. She left and lived on her own. When she got old, she could not manage Kampala any more, so we took her to our village. She lived there for over 10 years, till she died and she was laid to rest on the family grave yard.

I had to pose and get the scripture after Pumla told the story; Proverbs 30:21-23 There are three things that make the earth tremble- no, four it cannot endure: a slave who becomes a king, an overbearing fool who prospers, a bitter woman who finally gets a husband, a servant girl who supplants her mistress. A maid that takes the place of her mistress the Bible says is something the earth cannot endure.... God help us.

Maid is of the past and feels demeaning,as someone who has worked in Dubai as a house help for 8 years, it's not easy especially when bosses expect you to know everything and do everything as if there is a school where we are trained to do that kind of work, and most of them talk down on their helps thinking they aren't humans of educated, some are bad but most of them are good ,its just insecurities of some Bosses who get intimidated.lol

I like what came started with... As much as maids are problematic, other factors constant, sometimes we don't really show them how to do what we want them to do. As much as in our eyes the work is simple, easy and basic. To them it's diff, these people come from settings where housework is honestly not in any form of order or standard. Usually they dont know how to do these thgs, honestly some times they can badly lay their beds properly or clean their rooms. This shld be somethg to show u that they dont know. Orientation and and literally taking time to show these pple what to do and how to do it is very vital. Otherwise to them the work we look as basic can sometimes be so confusing for them, resulting in all their behavior and all that leaving as soon as they come. That second part of the conversation is also very important.

Kakati, it takes being outside of the society to see how sad this industry is. To say that 'maids are maids' or that they are too far beneath you, is much more than 'boujie'...it's similar to logic used to keep other people groups down in history. Kudos to Manuela for being able to truly see the situation for what it is. It really is not easy when it's the 'norm'. Thank you, though, ladies, for all your interesting discussions. @kristine_wangui2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Connie Kavuma. I am wondering how a grown woman is employing a child and is OK with it. Shame on them for laughing about it.
@ritzerblessing99172 жыл бұрын
@@kristine_wangui so its wrong but you know that these people don't have another option but to find work since they can't go to school anymore...instead of being married off somewhere at that age employment is a better option...this is a different Uganda we as children fend for families...so I'll take their side on this one

I like watching your Videos though I relate to less of your discussions because I dont have a child but As much as I love listening to your Topics, there is somothing bothering me, Ladys I know you are all Ugandan but not all your viewers are from Uganda, pliz could you keep your conversations in English. Sometimes you through some Ugandan Words which we do not understand "Manange" and many more. I am Kenyan living in Germany but your greatest Fan. Keep on the good work 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Maids maids…So usually when I get amaid I do general medical checkup for a couple of things. So this specific maid I get,day two I take her to hospital, they found she had a bad uti,PID coz dr.asked her and she said she had always had abig problem down there for yrs…So story short we get medz, treatment for her I remember I spent about 200k on her treatment. So we go back home,we slp..I leave her home the following day, left when I had made lunch, for my Mwami since his self employed and returns home for lunch.Since she was new, told her to just wash dishes I would show her other stuff when I returned in the evening.Mwe,as soon as I left for wrk, didn’t the chic call her parents mbu we are giving her medicine when she is not sick, oba for her she uses local herbs…Hubby called me and told me she found her on the Verander on katemba of shaking and shivering she wants to go back to her home.Immediately I left wrk, found her and off she went…Wabula maids….
