The biggest difference between McDonald’s in the USA and Europe is the way the employees are treated. In the USA the opponents from fair and a live-able wage say that it will cause high inflation, while Europe shows the opposite. In fact paying a wage someone can live on without having to rely on tips makes them able to spend more time with their families, create additional jobs, be healthier and have a more enjoyable live. It’s insane to think in the USA someone might need to work 16 hours a day, 6 or 7 days a week, in a place like McDonald’s and still can not afford to send their kid(s) to college and have a regular health insurance for their family.

I remember my brother taking us to McDonald's and not telling us what he ordered for us but, knowing well that my late wife's favorite snack was beef kroket, he ordered 6 McKroket so we had 2 each. Needless to say, he had two, I had one and my late wife had 3 she was just blown out of the water and complained why we didn't have that in Las Vegas.

the Dutch mcdonald sauce is called American sauce. which is ironic since it is typical dutch sauce. you will not find it ANYWHERE in the world only in the netherlands. you can even buy it at the store.

The BigTasty is one of the best sellers for maccieD’s here. They took it off the menu 6 years ago, before that it was quite big (the bun was at least as big as the patty), when they got it back on after 5 months. The bun was smaller, the sauce was more sour as well… don’t know why they changed it, but I guess it’s because they wanted to lower salt, sugar and fat content. Hashbrowns aren’t really a thing here. McKroket is great when fresh, hot af tho 😅

@@buncharted bitterballen could even be ammunition if you throw them hard enough they pop on someone's skin imagine just wearing thick gloves, and having a metal can of freshly fried bitterballs so they retain heat a bit, just grabbing 2 or 3 at a time and throwing them at people, that's almost war crime territory lol yeah, i don't know why i came up with this fucked up idea, but i do know kroketten don't quite have the same aerodynamics for that long range toss and glorious impact like a spherical ball does, so i guess my argument was that bitterballs have a potential to annihilate more than just your mouth compared to kroketten lol as for kroketten , still no slouch, well i've put one in between 2 slices of bread before, added some mayonaise and/or mustard, then press down on the bread to really spread it... i even just rammed my fist down for shits and giggles once when i was younger, the insides protruding through the bread even after sauce and taking some time to set it up, were scalding to the point of 1st degree burns lol as a dutch kid, ofcourse i once ate a bitterbal that was too hot to keep in your mouth, and rather than eject it, you just tried to swallow it whole, oh man , it's pretty fucking bad feeling that hot thing going down the pipe, you can feel it just heaing upt everything inside as it travels down that's the sneaky things about the balls, they fit in your mouth whole, and you can make a decision you regret very quickly even more so than with a kroket cheese souffle's with the cheese running over your thumb as you were cycling whilst eating one just trying to ride that one out without dropping the thin... boy the snack bar sure gave me some physical pain, but it was worth it. that's how i eat pizza too, piping hot, i burn the roof of my mouth pretty much every pizza, but that's when they're at their best. i'm a bit like the old dog my parents had, that would look at you "what the hell, that shit was a bit hot", after just eating it piping hot first anyway, it was annoyi8ng at best for her lol

It’s tastes healthier because there are LOADS of things that the Dutch simply don’t allow to be put in their food. I remember a Dutch friend joking that the US basically uses their citizens as test subjects.

I've worked at MCD from 1996 - 2003 in my teens - things have changed over time. It did seem like the MCD menu had more than the ones I know. There always where seasonal burgers/menu's and some have stuck around for a while, but sizzled out in the end. I could be mistaken but the McRibburger that stuck around for a while, but is not in the menu anymore. The main thing I always heard about difference was in the sizes of the menu's. The large here was more of a medium in the USA. Things like that. Burger King once had the bigger portions than MCD, the burgers, etc. at BK were larger. But now days the BK sized down in comparison with my youth.

Only go to mcdonalds when my kids force me to. If a big tasty looks like a mess, you should try a Kapsalon at a cafetaria. Way better though :). Oh and don’t eat fish at McDonalds. Go to the market and get Kibbeling.

At least you HAD a descent amount of sauce on your burgers, my experience is that since Corona they put a lot LESS sauce on theburgers, which make them ALL to dry for me, so I decided to pass every McDonalds........give me a Whopper ANYTIME above ANY McDonalds burger anyway!! I know this is not specific to the Benelux countries, but I like you to compare (side-by-side) fast food meat burgers with their own versions of non-meat(vegan) burgers... for ex. McDonalds Q.P. with cheese compared to their vegan with 'cheese' or Burger Kings MAX burger with THEIR own vegan burger and so on...

The big & tasty used to be a lot better than it is now. I worked at McDonald's for several years and it used to be one of my favorites (along the McRib). They changed the recipe for the sauce about 10 or 12 years ago and use a different burger patty and bun now. I can't disagree with the new version being on the bottom 😅

@@buncharted it had a stronger, less artificial taste. I think they changed it to save costs. Initially it was just meant as a temporary product, but they brought it back after popular demand. Guess that meant they had to make better margins on it.

I'm glad MC Donalds in France was so bad my family never wants to eat it any more, but yeah, when we still did, the big mac was my number one. I'd still have kibbeling over it 1000 times though. Oh and that one experience in France was unique, it must have been an anomaly, but some of us got pretty sick from it.

The nuggets; it's because there is 6 pieces, 9 pieces -and 12 pieces so you up them with 3.- The smallest number is 4 pieces (Happy meal) There is also the 20 pieces

I've heard that Mc Donalds had to lower their sugar content in the buns because otherwise they'd have to lable them as candy in the EU. Does sound a bit like an urban myth, so I am not sure it is true. I do think Mc Donald's buns are very sweet though. I'm not sure if you tried them yet, but I recommend the simple FEBO hamburger, it has a far superior bun than all the other burgers, imo. It has whiskeysauce aka coctailsauce on it though, that's perhaps a little weird, but not bad I think.

Things like the hashbrown and the macdonalds apple pie are something we are not familier with in the netherlands. Like we don't eat hashbrowns. We do eat "aardappel kroketjes" but its not a breakfast thing. Like we don't eat hot food in the morning. We are boring like that 😂😅(imo boring)

Hi, nice to know how the Dutch variants compare to the US. I also watched your pizza show. I'ld expect a better quality in ingredients here in NL. Maybe it is, but apparently it doesn't make much difference in taste and flavours. Of course, in NL we are not really good in flavours. I never go to McD. If I want a burger or fries, or nuggets or whatever, there are better places around every corner, so to speak. Here in NL, and I think in most parts of Europe, there has been a lot of criticism on McD for serving fat and unhealthy junk. Granted, McD took it seriously and met the European demands. So I wonder: do you think the Dutch/Euro McD is less fat or is it the same? (You mentioned the lack of fat coming off the pizza). I've tried Domino's a few times, but I like NY Pizza better. The most disgusting American "chain food" is Subway. The bread is just awful. Maybe they've changed it, dunno, stayed away from them for like 12 years. But I never see many people there.

i think it’s the same with dutch mcdonald’s: it definitely seemed less greasy overall, especially using the big mac as a comparison. i’m with you though, i doubt we’ll ever be back to mcdonald’s here unless we’re in a pinch. there’s so much more high quality low cost food in the netherlands at snack shops and broodje shops!

@@darrellbeets7758 Well, I didn't say I'm an expert, or claim to know how a Mac burger tastes. I said I expected a better burger. Alex and Michelle concluded that there is not much difference. On the other hand, several US expats vloggers in the NL and elsewhere in Europe state that veggies here have more taste than in the US. I happen to know that there is lettuce, tomatoes and more veggies in a burger. I also know that chains like MacD use products from nearby. They don't ship American bread, beef and veggies all over the world. So that's why I expected (not know) that a burger in NL (or Europe) would taste better: because the veggies have more taste. However, I stand corrected, I have had burgers from MacD. I think the last time must have been some 25 years ago.

btw they changed the Big Tasty. the old Big tasty was a huge burger had a different sauce as well. the new one is just bad its smaller and just not worth it in my opinion. the only good burger we had at mcdonald was the big tasty. so there is no point in going to the mcdonald anymore.

Mc Donalds' why? There are so many Dutch/Dutch-Internationally snack-bar's in the Netherlands. Without the, I'll think, Mc Donalds processed food. In my town I personally prefer snackbar Shalom, no not Jewish at all, the owner is from Alexandria Egypt. The perfect spare-ribbs menu you can get. Spare-ribbs, fried potatoes, vegetables. The garlic sauce, I'm usually orderd, is perfect. The sauce, Mc Donalds? It's American, not fitting in our European environment, as so as the food they offered.

Because in the netherlands we use real ingredients the burger you eat is 100% Cow meat. american meat is full of hormones and anti biotics its forbidden in the netherlands and europe. same goes for the bread and everything. bread in america contains tons of sugar which is also not done in the EU. Technically speaking Mcdonalds in europe is healthier then in the US. ofc its still unhealthy but you get the point. it just taste fresher.

I love you 2 but I hate any McDo, Burger King, KFC and the likes. I can afford real food, I will eat real food. That's MY opinion and everybody can have their opinion and we still can love each other ;-) In Flanders there are so called gourmet burger restaurants and there are real nice ones between them! The burger patty's are made from freshly ground meat not compressed separator meat (it's when they claim 100% beef and YES its the slaughter left overs of the same animal ;-) I know it is not the organ , bone, eyes what some people claim but it is just the meat that is left over when the prime cuts are gone. Gourmet burgers are made with the prime cuts and with real tasty bread buns and it's in my eyes just a much better experience over-all 🙂
