Hello mate , it,s a masterstroke putting an O ring in as the backup lift cylinder piston ring , as you,ve found out , it stops the linkage slowly sinking over time , looks like a good idea to me , for all of you out there that do this , make a point of lifting & lowering your Fergie,s linkage a few times a week , this will keep the inside diameter of the lift cylinder oiled up , clean & workable . it,s surprising just how sensitive the ferguson system is , as you,ve shown , finding the right spot is everything , not everybody would have the patience or knowledge to achieve it , well done from the old country .

Hi Lance, been a while since I had a look at this particular video, the relief valve on my TEA has started to whistle over the last couple of weeks and there must have been something in the mechanism inside that has gone out of adjustment, or bent, or broken, the lever is working okay up to about 2/3rds of the quadrant and further up than that the relief valve blows. So using your video I'll try the simple fix first, cheers all.

Great video Lance and I found the last part interesting too where the hydraulics don't go down with the tractor turned off. With my fergy I mostly have a carryall on the back and if I turn off the tractor the carryall starts going down slowly and faster if there is a load of wood or whatever on the back or it drops like a sack of potatoes while running and I release the lever. Would that mean the control valve or O ring is buggered? Because iv always wondered why it does that. Cheers Lance!
@BundyBearsShed9 ай бұрын
No the reason is the split piston rings on the main lift piston, they are made like that and the oil must leak down. The reason mine doesnt leak down is that I have fitted a Ford lift piston with an o ring that has a full seal. It is an easy thing to fit.

You fill using the gearbox filler but go slow as it has to run through the bearings and it can take a while. I use any modern tractor back end oil it will work fine, they take a bit over 22l From memory. I cant say how much they lift on a jib as they are all different but 500kg would be reasonable on a fork I would think.

Is there a screw missing? Is it overflow from overfilling? Then further back towards the next section just infront of the sump plug for trans/hydraulic oil, theres like what looks like two ends of a split pin coming out of a hole, theres also a slow drip from there..
