I’m so glad I took the initiative to learn how to do this. The local shop wanted almost $500 for a full driveline fluid change (front diff, transfer case and rear diff) and axle zirk fitting grease job. I thought to myself, I already grease my driveshaft every oil change. I already do my own oil changes,so how hard can a differential and transfer case oil change be? Literally the easiest thing in the world to do this job. The oil for these Toyota differentials is a little pricey, especially that rear differential but that’s literally the only cost aside from the crush washers. It cost me around $100 to do my entire driveline service myself. Thank you for these types of videos!

Hey guys so unfortunately if it's not a Limited Slip Differential than it is 75w140 but if it is you can use 75w90 or 80w90 the research on this was extremely frustrating and annoying. But I literally had to look up this info using different websites such as amsoil and royal purple

So it's OK to use 75w 140 in this? I would like to use the heavier gear oil where I live in south Louisiana. But,my Manual states 90 weight which is really hard to find now. Thought I'd go with 80w 90 for Dino oil or 75w 90 for synthetic.

Those are the right ones to use only when it has limited slip differential

If there is a crush washer you shouldn't need to use plumbers tape on the threads. I like the ides of allowing the drain for 24 hours.

My manual says 75w-140 for standard diff. Limited slip takes SAE 90 or 80w-90 (2006)

Is there any lubricant you put on the drain plugs besides the tape, that part I feel like I wouldn’t do right lol

My 03 sequoia 4x4.....i bought 75/90 LS oil. I don't know if I have an LS diff....but since it's 4x4 I'm assuming it is. Mobile 1 synthetic. I'm 70 years old so going slow with this operation.

Is the teflon tape a special type (different from the teflon tape used in plumbing)?

I looked it up, 75w90 for transfer case and front differential. 75w140 for rear according to Toyota forums and manual. I could be wrong, if so please lemme know.

@@t0nyT i believe you are correct. the 4.6 and 5.7 take 75w90 for all three. the 4.7 takes 75w140
