• Does Seafoam Actually ...
Formulated for vehicles that have not had regular fuel system maintenance. Uses H.E.S.T. and powerful detergents to maximize one-tank clean-up of intake valves, fuel injectors, carburetors,and combustion chamber. Dissolves gum, varnish, and carbon deposits in the entire fuel system to help restore lost power and peak performance. Improves starting, drivability, gas mileage, and injector life. Catalytic converter and oxygen sensor-safe.
HEST - “High Energy Solvent Technology,” a Berryman exclusive, incorporates the use of strong solvents, as opposed to weak carriers and diluents such as mineral spirits or kerosene.

Plain and simple best stuff ive found. BEst price hands down . Outperforms all others ive tried. VAlue cant be beat. Never let me down . Never dissapoints. Personally used it in over 20 cars, many repeatedly , with no adverse affects /damage to the vehicle. Great stuff. No B.S. Money well spent! Glad its going strong and is available in more places than ever, still for a hell of a price. Thanks Berryman again!

Been using it for years . First heard about it at the drag races. VEry surprised , and even made skeptical , by the great price. Price has managed to stay low throughout the years. Have tried many other expensive,even professional, products. This one always seems to work. Stopped wasting money , and started saving it instead. Used it countless times on cars and trucks , new and old. Have even argued with auto parts employees over it, when they try to sell me seafoam or STP (on sale). Ive even had one say that its too strong and will cause my seals to dry /crack……. Nver happened . I used it for the whole lifetime of my Nissan,as a fuel addititve , and as a solvent to clean my injectors directly through the intake. always felt the diffrence immediately. Never ever felt like i wasted my money and got robbed (unlike others). Never had no engine trouble. Sold it at 280000 miles going strong. Repaired the valve cover seal , my friend (long time mechanic)thought i had a rebuilt engine because it was so clean inside. I have amazed and made many other believers of friends, by helping them tune up/maintain there car using berryman b-12. First they are skeptical, think its too good to be true, waste of money. Once they experience the difference in power. Smooth idle. Car even starts and feels and sounds different. Ive had some older cars feel renewed instantly. Now everyone is constantly wanting to use it on there cars, or asking me how to do it again. They all want to know so they can help other people/themselves with there car maintinance. First and only mandatory , and consistent product on my list for tune up supplies. Other items can be substituted , But for Berryman there is no close substitute. Thanks to Berryman for offering such a quality product and keeping it affordable. Helps many people , especially when times are tough to keep there vehcles running great!

You have to remember that he used these products straight from the bottle, they were not diluted with gas , so it would be less harsh on rubber that is used in the fuel system. When mixed with a tank of gas and follow the directions on either one , that's why there is a certain amount of product per gallon of gasoline.

It's a good cleaner- if you can soak and assembeled system's parts with it - specifically like an pre-oil change engine flush, not for intake valve cleaning. If you have loose metal parts there are better, faster cleaning chemicals and methods.
@psdaengr911
@psdaengr911 7 ай бұрын
@@carenthusiast6748 Yes, it would work, and the longer the soak up to 2-3 days, the better. Almost any fuel system cleaner will work. One problem is that all of them will react with polymer seals in the engine. This isn't a problem during the soak where the chemicals that get past the rings drip direct to the sump. It can be if the oil is not changed immediately after the engine is brought up to operating temperature. The speed of chemical reactions increases as temperature rises.

My Yamaha 650 had been sitting for a few years and went to crank her up I couldn't get it to stay running, obviously. So I pulled apart both carbs and was greeted with a green gunk in every orifice, jet and crevice it could crawl into. So naturally I went to O'reilly's, my local auto shop, to pick up some Seafoam. When I asked the gentlemen behind the counter to lead me to the Seafoam he said, " hey, why don't you try this B12, its half the price and works great." Whatever, I got nothing to lose and its half price, so I grabbed 2. I soaked my jets, tank and filled the carbs up and let em sit for 2 days. That B12 cleaned the PISS out of that thing. Those jets didn't look that clean when I bought them new! Anyway, I'm a fan. Seafoam is great too but this worked just as good if not better for carb cleaning applications and its half the price. Bike started right up.

First off, thanks for wearing gloves. Too many people think the skin is safe enough when handling car fluids and chemicals. As for the Seafoam, I've used it with my engine oil, the engine has 130000 miles on it. After the Seafoam treatment and an oil change, I was shocked to see that the new engine oil stayed clear for well past 5000 miles. Before the treatment, the oil would turn dark within the first hundreds miles. So yes, it does clean the engine. As for the B-12, I'm not sure I would pour that inside the pistons or inside the carter, that stuff looks a little too strong for various engine seals and o-rings.

I put B-12 into my 2004 Tacoma's gas tank and it did well. I put B-12, about 3 oz, in my Honda Rebel's tank and my carburetor started leaking. B-12 will eat seals. My takeaway is if you drive a lot, a tank of gas a week, use the B-12. If you don't drive a lot, use the Sea Foam as that is what it was made for. B-12 is also cheaper. Both are good but be careful with the B-12.

I hated using Eco mode because of the lack of power but my wife wants to save fuel but I can know drive in Eco mode with no issues. The Berryman's really does work! I am a mechanic with 35 years experience. Nothing in a can will make a mechanical repair. If you need a new seal, replace it, don't buy an additive with "Stop leak". That being said, these two products are great at achieving two different results. Seafoam will remove carbon when introduced through the intake system, and will help remove condensates from oil. Berryman as a fuel additive will move water and clean fuel system parts that contact liquid fuel, and remove fouling from plugs. Not really a substitute for a tune-up, but a quick way to pep up a rough running vehicle. The difference shown here is solvent compared to lubricant. Still interesting, thank you Bundy's Garage!

My first experience with Berryman B-12 was in 1990 with a 1981 Buick Skylark 4 cylinder throttle body injection ( wife’s car ). She told it would not idle at stop and since it was an automatic she had to put it in neutral at stop signs and stop lights and keep her foot on the accelerator. So I got on my motorcycle and drove to the parts store and bought a can of B-12. I got home and removed the A.F. cover and filter and had my wife start the car. The old throttle body injection was a single injector nozzle sitting vertical over the throttle body spraying directly into it. It was half clogged and just spitting. I poured the entire can of B-12 into the tank which was about a quarter tank. Within minutes the car idled on its own. After which I drove to the gas station and filled up. I’ve been using B-12 ever since.

Yes- looks caustic and oxidizing. The missing variable is the outcome in it's heated diluted phase. Heat changes the chemical stucture-activity of virtually everything. The Berrymans looks like it contains acetone or the like. Concentrations would need to be considered given poly parts. Also, the ideal scenario is to not get clumping but dissolving, which may seen at odds with each other, and has to be considered given how far the engine is 'gone'. Def a fire hazard- rags etc.

It is actually toluene. a widely used industrial product in the lacquer industry, parts cleaner in some dealerships and thinner/like solvent for paints and used as an octane booster among others. It would seem successful at removing gas varnish from old - bad fuel .The advise of one person, to use in a tank over a long drive, seems like the best option to minimize exposure thus potential damage. Combustion effectiveness is always a factor. This guy (article below) does not seem to find it successful overcoming poor designs however. Common sense, not apparent today given the longevity of synthetic oils, does not consider ever-present combustion pollution, of course made worse with poor design. It always helps. Consider changing oil more frequently always. A worst case example-s of manufactures better and weaker designs of GDI. www.enginebuildermag.com/2017/10/solving-gasoline-direct-injection-issues-facts-fictions-gdi/

I like SF, however it is what it is. Both compared at 100%, Chemtool seemed to nuke the carbon and its bond to metal much, much better than SF. Diluting to manf. spec would probably require a month or 2 to see results. And more than likely the results would simply show Chemtool attacking carbon more than SF. This is a 'maximal' type of test.

I don't think you can beat B12 for cutting gasoline varnish/dirty carb./old dried bearing grease/stains/ink/paint, just about anything. I used it on an old 352 that was parked with gas in it for 17 years, rings stuck, compression 50 psi on #8. Filled the cylinder with B12, now it's one of the strongest cylinders. B12 and Mystery oil, best. But I doubt that B12 will have much effect on internal engine carbon.

I have been following this issue online now for years and I think the best solution is to get a piston from a corolla engine with this issue and soak it in ADV.99-05 FAST LACQUER THINNER, BERRYMAN CHEM DIP, CARBON-OFF, or PISTON KLEEN to see the results. After that try it on the engine and see how it does.

@5hawks
@5hawks 8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I've only read 1 or 2 comments here where anyone actually used it in their tanks at the recommended rate. It will clean the fuel system without harm but not many modern cars need their fuel systems cleaned. Gasoline is a very effective varnish cleaner. And as I already posted before, I doubt that B12 has much effect on internal engine carbon such as on piston tops. Baked on carbon is tough. Carbon below the valve heads is mostly stuck on in a matrix of flash dried gasoline so the soak test wouldn't be applicable to piston top carbon removal. One of the most effective ways of removing baked carbon is a water steam which has been used for a hundred years or more. The hot, dried porous carbon absorbs the water on the intake stroke then instantaneously turns to steam at ignition and breaks the bond. Where B12 shines is parts cleaning. It used to be sold in aerosol but it's flammable and a health hazard if not used carefully. Like anything else, you have to know what products are appropriate on what materials. I've used it for more than 30 years but I no longer use it or any cleaner in the tank. If a modern engine doesn't run right B12 isn't going to fix it. It needs work by a skilled mechanic that knows wtf he's doing. (sensors, all kinds of them) I've never used SeaFoam. It's probably a good product, so is MMO but none of them are "engine overhauls in a can."

Good to see the experiment. There's no negative comment to report. The experiment was a straight forward and simple procedure. The Carbon deposits came off the valve and its stem from B12 solution. Now the question is after the solid deposits are drawn into the cylinders and blown off through the exhaust port, 1) what happens to the deposits, eventually? 2) Will it clog the CC mesh impairing its function? I will be using neither of the solvents but Liqui Moly Valve Clean. if any one can provide an input regarding CC clogging, that'd be appreciated. Thanks.

Great experiment! Something I wanted to point out is that it makes sense that seafoam is "weaker" as it is made to be added into the oil/crankcase, and shouldn't harm the seals. Note how the Berryman's melted your gloves, imagine what it would do to seals if it was added into the oil/crankcase. Not saying one is better than the other, but it is clear that they have different purposes depending on what application you are using. I would recommend seafoam for a light engine flush and to keep new cars clean, while I would recommend Berryman's on older vehicles which have more carbon deposits.

It still wouldn't be a true gauge of performance, because (1) the mixture isn't heated like it would be in a fuel system and (2) there's no ignition/combustion taking place. About the only way that you can really get a good understanding of the performance is to do the 100% jar test here, or do a before/after borescope vid like ChrisFix did. I don't think he tested the Berryman tho.
