Great video. I love this bike. This bike is the only reason I own a Harley. Like you said, it's all subjective and each person likes what they like. For me, the fxlrst is it. 1. Vibration: everyone changes the bars and or risers. It's gonna happen. Kraus makes a riser that puts the riser bushings at stock distance from bars no matter what height you go with. Problem eliminated. But the vibration doesn't bother me at all. I have thrashing 9.5 risers with stock bars. It also has cruise control so I can alternate which hand I have on the bars as often as I like . 2. The bags: leather pros really do look better on this bike and hold way more stuff. A person can sell their stock bags for more than leather pros cost. 3. Forward controls with mini floorboards give the stretch needed for taller guys and still allows for a mid riding position for better handling. They're more like mid-forwards. 4. The fairing kinda sucks. But it does it's job. A taller windshield is a must. 5. Seat, foot controls and bars/risers. Seems to solve the problem. And it's something everybody does anyway. 6. Everybody is also gonna change the exhaust immediately. I waited a week and that was because that's how long the exhaust took to be delivered. This bike is a blank canvas. If it doesn't have soul it's because the owner hasn't shared their soul with it yet.

Harley is the only brand that can make it's customers buy a 20-30-40 thousand dollar bike and have to spend several thousand more on it just to make it ridable/enjoyable. From the seats, to saddlebags, handlebars, foot pegs, fairings, to the cams and rear suspension, even the front brakes. What a joke 😂

Late to the party here. But I really appreciate you making this video. And shedding a light on these issues. Particularly about the vibrations. Haven’t seen any other youtuber having the balls to bring that up. This is why I’ve been subbed for years. You’re not afraid of telling people how it REALLY is. No bs. Straight up, Respect. Can’t say that about any other youtuber. So on to the vibration. Since I sold my ST because of this. I bought a Low rider 107 softail also. Didn’t have as much vibes as the ST. But it still had it. And I couldn’t stand my fingers, feet & bum going numb again. Then I did what others have done experiencing this issue. I went to the Dyna as a last attempt. I test rode a Dyna Low Rider S, with a 117” in it. And a list of other goodie’s. Let me tell you this. It was pure love on the first ride. So I immediately bought it. And have been loving every second I’m on it. It’s so much more comfortable. The Dyna doesn’t have ANY of the vibrations as the ST and newer softails. Zero. None. So I would highly recommend getting a Dyna to someone else, that’s experiencing the vibration issues on the ST & the softails. I’ve never been this happy and felt this amount of love for a bike before. I’m never getting rid of it. All hail the king. Fxdls forever man🤘🏻

The early version so to speak of the LRST is the Sport Glide. For taller riders it has the benefit of forward controls. Put with a seat such as MoCo’s “Tallboy” seat that puts you up and back it especially with the bars of your choice makes for an ergonomically comfortable ride. Well naturally accompanied by a much taller windshield for the factory fairing or taller aftermarket fairing. At 58 & 6’4 36” inseam I’ve put on over 1,000 miles in a day and 45k since I bought it 4 years ago. No reason a Tallboy or similar and or forwards cannot be used on an LRST. Naturally some have a definite preference to mids or forwards and that may dictate that for an individual the point being these options are out their for the taller rider. I setup my Sport Glide very similar to a LRST long before their was an LRST with the taller 56mm shock and Bung Kings spacers for a 2.25” lift which improved geometry gained needed available lean angle and brought the bike up so I no longer looked like I was sitting on a mini bike. 135hp & big brakes like you I am no longer interested in trading it in but I’m happy to see the continuing sales & development with Harley’s sport touring / muscle cruiser.

I got rid of those deathtraps of a stock tires and went for the Metzeler Cruisetec, what an amazing tire, the bike feels 150lbs lighter and can be thrown in corners like a sports bike now. Biggest singles improvement I've ever noticed on any change I made to any bike. AI also slightly "over filled" my tubes with a tad more oil to stiffen up the very soft front end. Never had any death wobble or vibrations since (ruffly 10k miles now). And one old school trick against vibration in handle bars where no weights can be attached, fill them up with birds sand, gets rid of most vibrations and is dead cheap to do.

My Streetbob now has a Memphis shades night warrior fairing, kuryakyn road thunder Bluetooth speaker, Viking detachable hardbags, and various performance/aesthetic upgrades. When I bought my Streetbob there were no touring style softtails. After seeing this 2024 lowrider ST I fell in love. I've been riding the FXLRST for a year, as my fourth HD. I love that it is much lighter and handier than my old Road King. The weight of the Touring Bagger became oppressive to me, and the Low Rider ST is just so much easier to ride all day. The weight of the bagger just tires me out over a long day. And the FXLRST has more power and great brakes. The body and foot position took a bit of getting used to, and I had to reposition the rear brake pedal. Once that was done, the FXLRST was for me.

Get a deal on the “S” model with the gauge , then purchase the advanblack st fairing along with some chopped aftermarket lid bags. It will probably be a better cost savings to allow for more accessories and parts to be added then purchasing a st model from a Harley dealership because of the popularity

I had a Low Rider Dyna non-ST. Very nice, but the slip stream of air would constantly push out on my knees. Around town it was no big deal. After a while at speed, it got very tiring keeping my riding position. It got to the point that I was playing with the idea of velcro on a tank cover and my riding jeans to hold my legs in. Just tipping 10k on my '23 FXLRST and I have to say that it's been an absolute game changer for me. I take that baddie just about anywhere. I agree with what a lot of people are concerned about-- the exhaust being too quiet, the bags being asymmetrical, and the position of the pegs-- but all of these things can be adjusted or replaced. 2024 will be the year of the upgrades for me-- new Bassani exhaust and tuned, as well as mini floor boards, a higher riser, and a new Klock Werks windshield. Cool video! I'm getting ready for a trip to Champlain NY, from Houston TX on my lowrider st, probably next summer. I'm currently deciding on luggage. I'm just over 6ft, and left the mids on, but I have bung king 2 step high step bars I can use for highway pegs.the fairing is perfect for me living in gulf coast Texas,... I want a little air flow, without buffetting. I love the power, and I like that it sits a bit higher than the other soft tails. I put a sundowner seat on it, changed the air filter so my leg wasn't hitting it, and may change the exhaust... may just put slip on on it, keep it 2n2, just cause everyone is doing 2n1. I should be doing a 5000 mile review in a month or so on my lowrider st, and my fat bob. I've taken 1 long trip on it, to my sister's wedding, which is on my channel, and can say this.... before you change anything, take a trip, a good day out, and day back at least, you will know everything you want to do to the bike at that point, and possibly decide on not changing a few things. I actually like the lockable hard bags, im looking for a good trunk bag, and a bag for the passenger seat for long trips, and I should be good. This bike is awesomeness! But I still like my fat bob, and am more likely to ride it to work and back, being much more comfortable on gravel.. anyways, I love your channel! Thanks for the video!

I, 6'3", added an ST fairing to my Road King Special (with a ClearView XL shield), and I think it does a good job at wind deflection. The shield is definitely more narrow than an FXRT or the factory King shields so you feel it in the arms a bit more than I'd prefer, but that adds very little to rider fatigue, no biggie IMO. What I wasnt happy aboutr was the broken support tabs on the inner fairing for the windshield mounting insert clipped to the inner. Wisconsin roads suck pretty bad, and my inner is broken after ~2.5 months of use. I'm sure the taller windscreen weight isnt helping, but it seems like quite an engineering oversight to have something that is not only supporting weight as well as wind shear pressure be secured via trim clips. It's funny, because if you look at the stereo available for the fairing it utilizes the welded nuts on the fairing main plate to support the weight of the stereo, so why not manufacture the windshield trim to utilize these mounting holes as the stereo does to add support to the top half of the fairing for less than stellar roads?

Those mids are in a perfect position for me. I honestly got too bored on a bagger because it was too comfortable and smooth. Personally I can't stand fixed fairings, so I went with the FXLRS variant. Plus, leather pros hold way more stuff although I do like the stock ST bags. Vibration? It's a motorcycle, get over it or buy a Goldwing, or a car 😂

Nice vid man and thanks for sharing your opinion. I agree about all your arguments, but I want to tell you my story about this bike. On February the first of 2022 I was surely among the first in France after its presentation on January 26 or 27 to order an LRST, at the age of 63 and coming from a 103 Road King Classic, I wanted to upgrade to a lighter motorcycle and this one ticked all the boxes, a Touring light for 10k€ and 80kgs less. But at the beginning of June after a long wait the dealership was still not able to give me a delivery date, perhaps in September or October, so after seeing a lot of motorcycle videos from American moto-vloggers who already had the machine, I started to doubt, too black, too modern, the saddlebags too high, the speedometer too minimalist and I wasn't sure I wanted a fixed fairing either when I've always had Harleys with windshields, So I canceled my order and ordered a Sport Glide. But while I appreciated the M8 engine, the handling, the practicality and the versatility, I found that it didn't suit my rather classic style, so after 3 months and 6000 miles, I decided to return to something that suited my tastes more, a Heritage 107ci and I found my bearings again having riden for 12 years on this same model in 1340cc, but this time with all the advantages of the new chassis as well as the M8 engine. Then by riding this super easy to handle motorcycle with much better handling than the old ones, I rediscovered the pleasure of spirit riding on a motorcycle and I started to want a more "sporty" and more fun model and then I came across a Low Rider S 114, I fell in love with the look and the spirit of this machine which reminded me of my Ducati 900ss from 1979. At the begining I had a lot of trouble adapting to its unsuitable driving position for my long legs, but today after 3 months and 4000 miles and many mods, risers, seat, higher shock absorber and more, I found my place and I never tire of it anymore so much so that I put my Heritage up for sale and I still have lots of projects to improve it even more. So the circle is complete, I am almost back to square one in February 2022 as the Low Rider S is so close to the ST, but I don't think I will come there because I really like my LRS and with the mods that I will bring him again he will truly be mine. But I really appreciate what you say about the ST, it's also a bike that has to be earned and when you put in the effort you can get a lot of pleasure from it. Ride safe and continue to make good vids...

@@nickthinkpainting1978 in my opinion even having the 2020 street bob for 3 years, and already putting 500 miles on an St before buying one. With my street bob i did not see any wear or damage on my phone with the rockform gear. Also in my opinion you bars my vibrate more with certain bushings you're using for your risers. At 5’8” 170 I’m grateful Harley finally made an exciting, premium, tour-ready bike that fits me perfectly. I struggled for months to get a Heritage Classic M8 to fit me - seats, bars, controls, etc. - and finally sold it. Touring models don’t work at all for me, no matter what I do they have me stretched out sitting on my upper hips, not my ass. So I held my nose and toured on a Triumph Tiger for a while (fantastic bike, incredibly comfortable, hate the styling). The ST feels tailor made for my body and I love it. So, agreed, it’s probably better for average to smaller sized people. I will say my Harley sales guy (6’2”) put the standard Harley forward controls on his ST and loves it. Easy mod and it’s his daily driver now.

Nailed it again! I've looked at trading my beloved Sport Glide for a Low Rider ST, but for the money (my Sport Glide is paid off), I can add on the extras needed to get it close to the ST. Folks mention the different sizes of the saddlebags, but as I used to tell my potential Road Glide customers who didn't like the fairing: "Sit on the bike. How does the fairing look now?" "I don't know, I can't see it." was their response. "Exactly," I said. The same is true for the saddlebags, you can't see them when you're sitting on the bike. My only real "complaint" about my ride is that I still get some buffeting with the El Diablo fairing. It's not that bad and I wear a modular helmet so it's barely noticeable. Ok, I have one more gripe and that has little to do with the bike. Finding a handlebar mount for my iPhone is tough because of the vibration issues with the phone. Any suggestions would be most welcome.
@FXDLSBrooklyn Жыл бұрын
Right on man - That's pretty sick you have the El Diablo, definitely going to go down as a legendary release - I'm pretty sure the big phone mount brands such as Rokform and Quadlock have phone mounts that dampen the vibration, so you should be good!

You hit all the negative marks for the lowrider ST. HOwever this bike brings much more to the table for the few minor fixes. I ordered mine in Jan 2022 and had to wait 5 months for it to come in. I'm 5.10 and had an issue with the mid controls - I fixed that with a taller seat. My other issue is the bars are too far forward for me - that can be fix with pull backs. I have yet to buy a new softail model is because of how little they actually vibrate. I've been riding a dyna for the past 13 years and I think a motorcycle is supposed to vibrate. I will eventually break down and buy a new Low Rider S and put the ST fairing on it with a set of Leatherpros. Nice video my friend, I do love the ST, I really want one, I have a 2019 low rider standard, basically the same bike, thinking of just adding bags and now can buy the fairing. I have a gut feeling Harley will change up those few concerns you mentioned for 2024. The one thing I don’t like is the Bronze accents and wheels, I know that’s pure objective, would rather have a gloss black wheel or even a chrome option. As far as the bags, I hate them not so much the different size but the clam shell design, horrible. I also have a BMW K1300S again clam shell bags, hate them. Now that’s where the Harley baggers shine, hopefully Harley changes the bags to match more of there touring design but a tad smaller as not to look overkill on the softail being a smaller bike. But like you thinking Harley has an awesome sport touring bike here, with a couple updates I wouldn’t be surprised if this becomes there best selling bike.
@FXDLSBrooklyn Жыл бұрын
Much appreciated!! As for the wheels, one of the things I actually regret doing with that bike is powder coating the wheels black - I feel like when Harley drops bronze/gold mags like that, it's usually only temporarily and they become sought after decades later, sort of like how this happened with one of the anniversary low riders - I think I agree with your assessment though, wait to see what 2024 brings, Harley had been doing pretty well with decision making the last few years, looking forward to seeing what comes!
