We have a house roam bunny but love this idea for others that keeps their bunnies outside. Sown cages are so small and it’s just sad. You guys are such good bunny owners and they are so lucky to have you.

This is so sweet you two! I love how caring you are with the bunnies. I had a cage-free lion head bunny I just let roam the house. I would have loved making a space like this for them too if I had a yard. So adorable.

OMG! This is amazing! I love it! Question: I spent a fortune on hardware cloth bc sources stated that predators could easily chew thru chicken wire. Was that hype? Oh, if you have apple or willow trees, cut branches and fold them down at each end anchor to the ground to provide resistance. They will love chewing those branches. Thank you for sharing!
@TheLawrenceGardenFarm Жыл бұрын
The chicken wire lasted just fine, no predators got through. We also added chicken wire in the grass after the first week when we found Sage digging a big hole😂🤣. The grass grew around it after a few weeks and you wouldn’t know it was there. In our most recent video we show the bunny enclosure and how well it held up. The bunnies will be going back out in another month or so

That’s what the Amazon box is for, hosts all of their hay and food, we do the litter boxes in between because they are litter box trained. Prancer lived in our home for an entire year free roam and the other two are finally trained took them a lot longer🤣😂

Some wildlife can get through the chicken wire. Hardware cloth idea recommended for their safety. I live in a suburban neighborhood with alot of predators, and assist with rabbit adoptions. Have to keep the bunnies safe.

I have to say, I’m really jealous. Not of the bunny enclosure. But jealous that Jason is wearing a beanie & a jacket right now & we’ve been having temps in the 100s for the past week & will be over 100 for the next 2 weeks! It was 105-106 last week, heat index 115!!! 😩 Yay Texas 😂. Love the bunny enclosure you guys! Those buns are so spoiled! 🥰
@dollyperry30202 жыл бұрын
I'm concerned. Chickenwire isn't safe against many predators. It is a lovely structure. Did you say whether you buried the wire under the ground? Rabbits are diggers and so are many predators. Also, I worry about that grass has a lot of herbicides on it. Have you done an update video? P.S. It sounds like this is just a run and not a permanent home. I think it is good for that situation :)

First, it is a beautiful enclosure! You did a nice job. But, I worry that you used chicken wire. Bunnies will chew through that, and so will lots of predators. Hardware cloth would have been a better choice.
@ara.44972 жыл бұрын
Or rabbit wire. Worry about top too. Apparently chicken wire for hawks isn’t sufficient (probably owls too) so I doubt that plastic will be, especially after continued exposure to hot summer days. It will probably start to degrade and thin given it’s black... Still think it looks great - it’s just if that’ll be secure enough. Can always be modified/fortified and great framework to start!
@TheLawrenceGardenFarm2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, we’ve never created an enclosure for bunnies before so we will have to see how it lasts and if something needs replacing, we will definitely be sharing that too👍

It looks great❤.. would like to have one like that. Would it protect from predators? There are coyotes and bobcats where I'm at. Thanks
@TheLawrenceGardenFarm Жыл бұрын
we have coyotes but do not have bob cats. we haven’t had any issues, we do have garden lights in this area maybe that helps. The enclosure has held up very well! We can share an update as soon as it isn’t freezing here, we’ve had a very cold start to spring so far.

How often do you clean out their litter box? Do you have to get a brand new box for each change? Do you just put hay in it?
@TheLawrenceGardenFarm Жыл бұрын
I collect cardboard boxes and no longer use the litter boxes, they were too much upkeep over time. The box lasts about a week, and i used to add a puppy pad at the bottom for additional absorption, but i cut that out and added just a thin layer of paper pellet litter, unscented, and then just hay on the bottom and hay feeders on the side. I refresh hay everyday and food pellets and new water. When the week is done the box is done. We added a lot of our old bunny boxes to an outdoor space that we knew would eventually be a perennial garden. We just let them sit over winter, then tilled them in, before planting up our garden. It’s the garden addition we added outside of the oasis area. It’s doing great!
@letsgotravel77242 жыл бұрын
I’m just wondering why you didn’t use shade cloth on top so the bunnies have a little less heat bearing down on them in the summer

It's a wonderful enclosure but for birds not for rabbits. Think of how rabbits in the wild live and this is so not it. When I saw how high the enclosure was I started watching because I thought lots of earth would be wheelbarrowed in for the rabbits to dig and make tunnels with different exits. What are the rabbits going to with the 80% of the space above them? What are they going to do with paving slabs on top of gravel apart from walk and lie on them. I'm sorry, it really is a beautifully built enclosure but please create far far more enrichment areas for your bunnies.
@tbissonnette18354 ай бұрын
I wish people would do their research before putting their animals outdoors and building enclosures. Just because you don't see the predators doesn't mean they aren't there. They are. This enclosure is beautiful, but NOT predator proof whatsoever, a hawk, owl, coyote, etc will go right thru that. You need to reinforce with hardware cloth. Remember chicken wire is to keep animals IN, not predators OUT. If possible dig around the enclosure around a foot and bury hardware cloth there too to keep rats and mice out. Best wishes.

We are three years in with it, and it has held up. And there’s chicken wire on the ground along with pavers. They’re all safe and still alive. Thanks for your feedback back👍
