It's lovely, & will become even more so, burnished by the time spent enjoying it. Some suspended shelves would be useful. How will you keep rain & snow melting from entering, & ruining your rug & furniture? Is there some kind of a water proof floor, as in a large tent or yurt? In winter, animals may want to burrow or enter, to get in out of the winter weather, & to stay warm. I'm trying to figure out how the walls meet the floor. Do the walls just sit on tbe ground with nothing to keep the wind, rain & critters out? Oh there's something you could add - a small wood stove, with a smoke stack, a way to heat water & cook a little...maybe a toaster / convection oven to reheat foods in covered, ceramic baking dishes - or in metal baking pans, with foil to hold the heat in. I've seen wood stoves in large tents & yurts, but that looks like a plastic shell, so a proper opening & seal would need to be devised, of course. How much wind will it withstand? What kind of framework does it have? I used to have a screened enclosure over my brick patio, so can highly recommend a brick floor, set in sand, atop a gravel bass. Feels so good underfoot, to this day. The screen prch roofing got old, so I had it taken down, but at times I've missed it. Maybe I should've just had it repaired. Loved having it as a place to go when it poured or to sit in as it snowed. We need those extended spaces ...

When my son was maybe seven or eight, we used to have full on tea parties. I would make fancy treats, pots of tea and use my best china. We would get all dressed up and it was really quite magical. He stills remembers it and he is 38 years old. Your daughter will never forget the she shed tea sessions. Not ever. ☮️💕

Just seeing this segment. My husband spanned the generations this spring and finished a greenhouse that his father layed the foundation for when our babies were small. I've had a dream of a completed greenhouse, and my husband, and I to a certain extent, made that dream a reality. Looking for decorating ideas, I came upon your she shed video. It truly feeds the soul. So with a servant heart, my husband has tomorrow planned... To go yardsale ing, looking for pieces to fit out the greenhouse.

So my dear, I watched this and your discussion of embracing seasons and it leaped at me because I am sixty three on November 1st and just moved to an off grid cabin that we are finishing up. It is not much bigger than your space that you just decorated, likely. It is 16 by 24 including bathroom and closet. I am in a season of sweetness in doing this, and have had friends worry as I sold and gave away a lot of possessions to narrow to those most precious and meaningful. In this, since I am not finished in the interior, I am aching to decorate it but have to finish walls and such first. I had to settle on a gifted practical crocheted dish cloth and a soap dish that I love and treasure and hung some oragami that a friend's son did as a parting gift to me when I moved away. I have a table cloth and place mats to cover a small table that we are using just for the weeks until we finish up inside and get ours out of storage. I am making do and adding my touch. I will always add my touch. I am sure you get that. Also however, I am in the season of my life where I am wintering, fall to wintering. Silver hair was once revered but now the hair color industry is profiting from the hatred of it. I am embracing it. I am using your word embrace. I am unafraid of silver. I know that Spring will come and I will bloom in my Heavenly Father's garden one day. Until then, I am thrilled with Ecclesiastes chapter 3 that there is a time to be born and a time to die, a time to pluch up what was planted and on and on. I am in the cycle of life and my world is beautiful. Just a postscript. I did dishes outside until sink was installed and while doing so a colorful red/gold leaf fell in the dishwater and I thanked the Lord for the gift as I laughed. Blessings

eleanor k I don’t why this made me cry. They are certainly not tears of sadness. But, my husband and I built our own house by ourselves the exact size of yours two years ago. And I am sooo grateful for it. We added an extra 70 square feet and now it’s perfect. We are tucked into 24 acres of woods and meadows and I see so much life in these woods every day. To read how even something as small as a leaf falling into your water made you grateful is so heartwarming. I’m excited for you to get the opportunity to live this way. I, too, had to pare down to only my most treasured items that I use daily and it was so eye opening. Now I look around and everything I see and use is just the right thing and makes me smile. Even my husband has spoken repeatedly how beautiful and perfect our home is now compared to our former home that was 2400 square feet. He always thought he needed more space and more stuff, when frankly he just needed the opposite. He just needed a few things that were the right things. May God continue to reveal His goodness to you through large and small ways.

@@SimplyBeautiful516 I had thought I had answered you but apparently I have either misplaced it under wrong spot or it didn't take. I am surprised by the joy this place brings me. I don't know if we will ever add to this cabin. I think I need to just see it finished first. I have a greenhouse to put together in the Spring. I know he wants to add a small workshop and an outdoor kitchen for canning. I am not in a hurry for anything. My retirement meant no more hurry up days. I just want to see the goodness that is ours and don't you know the Father delights in our appreciation of it? You know, you truly know.

eleanor k You write as one who has learned much in her lifetime. And yes, yes God is so gracious to His children through every single trial and joy. I’m so sorry for the loss you’ve had of your beloved husband and sons. I cannot imagine that level of grief. But, I am also thrilled that you were given another man to love and cherish and be loved and cherished by. I think you have great wisdom to wait and to see if anything else is needed for your new place. We just added that 70 square feet to our home after living here two years and knowing exactly what we needed. People laugh at that but it’s all we needed, so why do more? May God give you laughter and joy together as you live your days in the heartfelt gratitude I can see and hear through your precious words. Thank you for taking the time to write to me and share a little of your thoughts and life. I think one of the most amazing things that God gives to us is the unity of spirit with our fellow believers in Christ.

Ending a day with Victoria magazine, Tasha Tudor books and tea is perfect no matter where you are. I love your little "light house". In the winter when the snow comes your chandelier casting a glow across that snow at night. A great place for game nights too. If I had a place like that when I homeschooled for sixteen years it quickly would have become the kids clubhouse too. We had a screen porch which acted the same. Sometimes we even set up the tent inside for a reading nook. It was my place for prayer, tea, company and evenings to rest after garden work. In winter it was too cold, but it was for three seasons. We had a bird bath that was nearby so we all enjoyed sitting watching the birds come, even in winter when the sun melted a bit of snow. Enjoy your she-shed. A place for memories.
