Burden this song touched on a level I can’t explain. I’m a recovered alcoholic and I lived every word of this song. Addiction is not easy. It’s a constant fight with myself to do the right things. I was never given direction in life so I was always down in a bottle. Then the drugs as well. I’ve had a loaded gun an empty bottle many times. No where feels like home to me. Idk where I fit in in this life. Ty for releasing this song. I’m three years sober but the urge to do it is still there

As a former infantryman who's been through hell and spent years drowning in a whiskey bottle, I can tell you that it's not only the wrong answer, but is an additional problem that will only manifest mental anguish with physical ramifications. I've been sober for 5 years and I can honestly say that getting sober saved my life. 5 years ago I was a train wreck with a gun in my mouth. Now I'm a business owner and a better man for using my negative thoughts and actions as learning opportunities. I'm 33 but I learned that you will never be old and wise unless you're first young and dumb. The best learning experiences are simultaneously the worst lived experiences. Great song Burden, more people need to be doing what you and Tom McDonald and Upchurch are doing. Keep setting a good example for the next generation bro, love what you're doing and what you stand for.

@@kclauren6052 My best friend growing up killed him self also. We both joined right out of school and both had similar careers in the infantry just different branches. After losing him and comforting his mom in the aftermath, it had a big impact on me. Honestly you showing you had a moment of weakness and came back strong is inspiring to me as I struggle to maintain sobriety in a life surrounded by people medicated by the doctors or self medicated from whatever... Even regular ass people on Xanax and you wouldn't know it. To live truly sober in this day and age is to be a rebel to say the least. They want us high and not paying attention

Things got much worse for me after I got sober, until I found God. I was finally forced to deal with everything that I spent so much time burying deep down, and I was overwhelmed. It was a very dark time. Something was trying to take me down, and I was on the ropes until I prayed 🙏. I felt instant relief. There were still rough times ahead, but I saw light at the end of the tunnel, and I knew I would get there.

This is coming from the guy who stopped going to AA after they said I had to accept that I needed a higher power to intervene. I was raised Christian, turned atheist around 15, wandered in the land of the lost for 15 years, then considered that might be wrong, shifted to agnostic, and finally turned back to God after something happened that convinced me for good.
