Here an important detail, mm of hole affects compatibility. 12.2mm is not enough for oversized cargo bikes.

Excellent video, and both of you did a great job! I use a trailer on my RadMini, and the only modification needed was substituting the left axle nut with a nut that did not have the wide flange on it (plus a flat washer). No problems at all, and the handling has been excellent.

@@EbikeEscape - Sorry it took so long to get back with you! The trailer is in a shed in the corner of our yard, and I didn't have an opportunity to go out there until last night! The trailer is the Instep double trailer with the stroller conversion option. It was about $200 USD if I recall correctly. No suspension, but it seems to ride nice enough for the kids to fall asleep.

@Altema22 I have a Radmission1, and considered going the non-flanged nut and washer route. Can you confirm that the non-flanged nut is fully engaged, and that the rear axle bolt fully goes through the nut? I almost bought a burley adapter before concluding none of them would probably work. This has been the most helpful video and thread of my rad bike trailer adventure.

I think the nut extender is pretty common fair in a hardware store. They won't have a threaded bolt on the end but I think the elongated nut is pretty common enough to find. All you would need at that point is instead of a specialty end is just a short bolt of the right thread. Granted you are increasing the chances of losing a peace since it's two pieces instead of one.

Hope all is going well with your Burley and Ebike. Make sure you are careful when turning. At speed you can tip it, likely not meant to be paired with ebike. I’ve tipped it on my standard bike with the single seater. My daughter still enjoys riding in it though.

My ebike has a QS205 hub motor with a much larger diameter axle than most ebikes. I determined the exact size and thread count of the hub motor axle, which turned out to be a very uncommon size in North America. After a lengthy online search, I found only one supplier in China, who had the correct size adapter nut in stock. The price for one stainless steel adapter nut was $90 including shipping. YIKES! The trailer manufacturer cut the large adapter nut in half and welded a smaller bolt ($6) to the outer end of the adapter nut to connect the trailer hitch mount. The cutting of the adapter nut and welding cost $40. Total cost to attach hitch mount was $140. I used thread locker on the ebike hub motor axle threads to ensure the fabricated adapter nut doesn't vibrate loose. After more than 3,000 km, the fabricated adapter nut is still secure and works perfectly for hauling my precious cargo. Thank you for your helpful and informative video, which helped me to figure out a solution for attaching my trailer hitch to an oversized ebike axle. Congratulations on your new baby!

Most e-bikes have the wire on the right side, but if yours is different, you may be able to have the trailer adapter slotted so it can go on without removing the nut. It depends on the material of the adapter though. If it is forged steel, it will be strong enough. If it is cast metal, then I would look for a different solution.

You'd have to know what their rear axle threads are and even then this is one of those "do at your own risk" type situations.

if you have a rad power wagon go with a different universal outfit for the trailer. no diss to my guy here I biygtn the adapter and it didnt work with an aesome trailer. it may be different with everyone else but the issue here is the threads did not match at all with nutt or thread in wheel

If you ordered the adapter from the link, you will need a m12x1.75 nut to attach the trailer bracket.

Stayed snug in our experience but since this isn't an approved accessory you will want to do safety checks. Your experience may differ from ours.

Hi. I've seen the Burley Bee and HoneyBee seat sags because kids are seated on a layer of fabric. Does this one has more support or it sags also?

I personally haven't noticed any sagging though my kiddos are pretty small at the moment. Feels very solid by the seats.

This model has a bench seat so no sag. That’s one of the reason this model is more expensive.

Do you have any knowledge about compatibility the the thule chariot trailers? Will this adapter have a similar use?

You should be able to. The Thule trailer hooks up in a similar fashion, so you would be able to use this adapter or one very similar. Thule actually sells “Thru Axle adapters” that serve a similar purpose as the adapter we showed off, does. -JT

@@EbikeEscape thanks for your reply. I have seen their adopters, although it looks like you have to replace the entire axel, unless I'm mistaken? My back axel is connected to a PAS sensor, so I have no idea how to take the axel out. Can you have a look at the ebike I'm referring to? It's called legend e bike siena is the model.

Okay so my problem is that the black piece is not wide enough to fit on the bolt of the rad runner e bike we just bought. If I get the bolt you are recommending does the black piece fit on the male piece ? Meaning is it narrower than the original bolt?

That seems odd. Both your axle and the bolt should be 12mm. Unless for some reason the Runner has a wider axle? Are you certain you have the same black hitch?

@@EbikeEscape My hitch is different. It’s for a Joovy bike trailer. After some digging and comparing specs on line it is smaller than your hitch. Man I don’t know what to do. It’s not like I can buy the bigger hitch mine is mire of a tube that fits inside a bigger tube

No problem. If you have a mid-drive motor you may not need this adapter as you might have a standard quick release rear axle.

Whether the stock adapter from Burley fits is going to depend on the length of the axle. If it doesn't then the machined piece might work if the threads are correct.

@@EbikeEscape I don't see the purpose of the adapter, is it because the hole in the tow bracket is 10mm or is the 18mm flange nut on bike foul the trailer connector? I have a cheap trailer that has the 45 deg stud tow hitch and trailer has female canon connector, I had to drill the hitch to 12mm for it to fit ebike axle

It should be the same thread - I haven't tried it on the RadWagon 4 yet. The challenge is the bit more unique frame to make sure there is clearance. Especially with ours since we have the running boards installed.

oh I know! eBikes (most eBikes) do not allow for trailer hookup to the rear axles. And trailers, MOST trailers, hook up to the rear axles ... hahahhaha... there! I just outlined the common dilema of most parents trying to stay active by way of cycling. Well, of course, you could always get a burley travoy which hooks up to your seat post, and bunggie cord your child (don't forget their arms) onto the travy --> voila! you're off to a bike ride! hahhaha.... you guys will surely be turning some heads! hahaah... we are investing on a Bike Friday Folding Tandem bike, the twosday with a front hub motor which allows for the rear axle to attach to any trailer of our desires. And yes, the burley trailer is coming with us because (if you'd ever own one), it's a dream to turn it into a stroller which we use to grocery haul. Why burden your bike when you already have a beautiful trailer that can haul 100 lbs of weight right? The bike, we use to carry the people. We might one day get the Burley 1 Seat trailer in order to get thru most doors (hint hint, you never know when you bike by a starbucks and suddenly the "want" for a cup of coffee becomes a necessity). And boy! are those doors small for a bike trailer! haha!

This is good doesn't exactly work for my bike though but helpful to others. You may taje offense hopefully not n with full disclosure im in my 50s not sure why so many people feel it necessary to say personally frequently when its ckear. Sad that we live in a society where people are sooo careful. Unfortunately it spreads n when people don't say it they could be misunderstood by the younger generations. So much more was understood without having to say it not long ago. Like "in my opinion" when clearly that person's opinion. And the worst is "maybe...maybe not " hello maybe already implies that.
