I was a locomotive engineer out of Edgemont from 1984 - 1995 and was one of two Trainmasters from 1995 - 1998. Also made my last day on the BNSF before retirement on the Newcastle bullet (local switcher). Lots of memories from Newcastle.

Wow! Thanks for sharing that. I probably ran into you a time or two. Made several trips to Edgemont with my best friend Rick Mills.

Lots of gold there!! Particularly that stuff from the early 90’s. That’s still the golden age of railroading in my opinion, before merger mania. This really took me back to my outtings on BN’s racetrack. Never got much farther west than that as I was still a very green railfan. BN really seemed to have those B-units, LMX units, and GP50’s in the same power pool.

The 90’s were surely the best. And yes, BN had lots of variety with their leased units. Thank you!

Once again Amazing footage! It's nice to see how things where and how they have changed. I also loved seeing the Santa Fe auto racks I don't seem to see alot of footage of them on trains.

The train action in Newcastle was awesome back in 1992, when BN operated its coal trains with SD40-2 and C30-7 units! It was the low-sulfur coal that made this mainline west from Alliance very busy in the 1990’s.

Exactly. Coal was king on these lines. Sad to see the coal industry going downhill.

Summers in the early 60’s my grandfather who was the VP of Motive Power would take me along as the CB&Q was taking down coal towers, water towers. The freight was hauled by EMD SD 24’s He is long gone but would be amazed by the power now used.
