The ending of this movie is one of the best endings ever. The idea of cutting away from your story and just having two other dudes tell you what happens instead of letting you see it SHOULD be such a big betrayal, but somehow it is the absolute perfect ending for this story.
@dedo73262 ай бұрын
I actually really like when movies/shows do that. Especially in the show haunting of hill house the scene at the end of the show when they are all having those weird dreams about the awful thing they did and Shirley is in a bar talking to a man while on trip away from her husband and they play it out so well she didn’t cheat but the guy comes back and instead of showing it they described it a great way. Sometimes you don’t need to see something for it to be powerful and effective
@thesyndrome432 ай бұрын
I think it works so well because the story is such a mess that it's absolutely hilarious to see professional investigators from one of the world's most famous agencies trying to understand it, then realizing that it makes no sense because people are irrational idiots, and deciding that they would rather bury the whole thing and pretend it never happened now that it's somewhat over. Like they couldn't even be bothered to arrest Harry (for murder) or Linda (for extortion and attempted treason) because then they would have to explain to other people what went down, so they just let him run away to Venezuela and pay for her surgeries just to put it all to rest

There aren't many reactions to it, as far as I can tell, which is a shame with this stacked cast (and many of them, as you point out, playing total goofballs)! @@jordancharles8598 I don't think panned is the right way to put it, but since this came after No Country for Old Men, people did see this as a "minor" Coens bros movie, a la The Ladykillers. But this movie has some of the longest legs in popular culture in their filmography, if only for the "memeability" of so many scenes and characters.

The vaccine scar that is referenced near the beginning by Francis McDormand's character is specifically referencing the Polio vaccine. That's why so many people have it, and it's only in people of a certain age or older. It definitely saved countless lives, so little bit of a scar is probably worth it. Great job reacting to this movie. I keep coming back to it time and time again and I think it's probably top 3 Coen Bro's films for me. Great stuff. Also I think John Malcovich is the best angry actor out there, it's great and tremendously hilarious every time. Just something about the way he can yell "Fuck" is so great.

Great epic comedy with George Clooney, John Turturro, Tim Blake Nelson, Holly Hunter, and John Goodman. * "Barton Fink" David Lynchian noir mystery/drama (some would say a dramady, or even a very black comedy, though) with amazing performances by all, including John Turturro, John Goodman, Michael Lerner, and Judy Davis. * "Intolerable Cruelty" A hugely underrated comedy with one of the most brilliant screenplays IMO. Starring George Clooney and Catherine Zeta-Jones, and featuring Cedric the Entertainer, Billy Bob Thornton, Richard Jenkins, and Geoffrey Rush. * "The Hudsucker Proxy" A seriously silly comedy IMO starring Tim Robbins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Bruce Campbell, and Paul Newman.

My second favorite Frances McDormand movie role behind only her portrayal of "Bunny" in 1996's great John Sayles film "Lone Star". The foldable pillow Clooney comes down the stairs with is another special product from the back-pages of Maxim Magazine called "the Liberator". Let your imagination run wild. The fact he was leaving with that in tow meant he was really serious about breaking up. Simmons plays a fun character with Tom Hanks in the Coen Bros remake of the Sir Alec Guiness and Peter Sellers great 50's, comedy, heist, movie, "The Lady Killers". It's worth a watch.
