Carpenter - this movie is about consumerism and capitalism. Everyone else - no its not youre wrong

If you really liked this movie you should Google "Plato's Cave". The movie's fight scene will make even more sense.

In a lot of ways, you can apply this to modern geek culture, as well. The blind consumerism and silencing any form of criticism remind me of They Live. Definitely ahead of its time and more relevant now than ever.

If you put on the They Live glasses while going to the movies today it would just be screens flashing DON’T ASK QUESTIONS. CONSUME PRODUCT. GET EXCITED FOR NEXT PRODUCT.

WTF? Nothing wrong with geek culture. You guys just can't accept people prefering different than you. Has nothing to do with being blind or something like that

@@susangirardi3655 it doesn't exist, it's only good when it is being limited in its size and scope. Government is supposed to protect individual rights equally and nothing else, what you get in Europe is a giant socialist fiasco. Extraordinary amounts of spending that could have benefited actual working class and given them freedom to pursue their own dreams. Instead, the government decides about your money

I never agreed with John Carpenter politically but he's on point here on so many issues especially with elitistism and this film has aged considerably well and it's on point with what's going on today
