@@ts4686 Certainly not a backhanded compliment. I have only met one family from the Czech Republic and they were lovely, so I would say the same about that nationality. I have actually met many Russians, and they have ALL been wonderful, so I would say the same about them. Still to this day, that lady who ran my daughter's day care is the only person from Nigeria I have ever met (as far as I know). And I still have a favorable impression of them because of her. How is that backhanded? If it is ... I don't get it. And I won't apologize for it, because my comment certainly wasn't meant that way. Sometimes you have to read the meaning in a statement if the actual wording wasn't to your liking.

That's why I prefer South Africans. I like manners and decorum. LOL! I enjoy Nigerian entertainment as a Black American. However, as a woman, I don't click with the men at all. The women, never had encounters. Other Black women from the continent-love. Met a South African-love. I do well with other Africans. Those Nigerians can be woefully ignorant sometimes, rude, always turning something into a competition, and don't take rejection till you really put a foot on their neck.

The Nigerian kids were always the FUNNIEST PEOPLE I HAVE EVER MET IN MY LIFE. For some reason they just had this different type of dry humor like British but way better. As a South African, I think at the core of the "beef" between SAns and Naijas is really the difference in personalities. We are on different ends of the spectrum so we easily misunderstand and misinterpret each other. SAns are big on humility: be humble and modest, don't brag, don't walk into a room like you own it. This shows in our fashion and in our way of life- we like simple and understated elegance. While Nigerians are all about being loud and ostentatious. Big assertive personalites that cement themselves in spaces. Glitz and glitter, overstated glam. If we were birds, SAns would be the swans and Nigerians would be the flashy peacocks- both beautiful but very very different.
@animalspidey
@animalspidey 6 ай бұрын
This comment is underrated. This is so true, and that is why Nigerians are always at loggerheads with SAns, cos the SAns feel Nigerians are too proud and they, the SAns, are bent on proving to the world that Nigerians are nothing, that Nigerians do not have any reason to brag. 😂😂

I don't think so, one or two Nigerians do honest work. These were the first known world-wide digital scammers before online transactions were a thing. They are into d*ugs and p*ostitution. Parents that give their kids lots of money to carry to school get targeted by them. I am talking as young as primary school. They give them laced sweets until it's in their system then sell to them which is the same strategy they use to drug our sisters. All these people didn't get into d*rugs on their own will but were forced using this strategy to increase their customer base. When girls wants to satisfy their craving they then force them into p*ostitution in exchange. The problem with us SAns is that we are so welcoming to our detriment, we never learnt from the mistake of our forefathers when they welcomed the Caucasian who kicked us out of our land and now we are repeating the same. Some we call me xenophobic for this truth but I don't care coz deep down honest Nigerians know this truth.

African Americans - 40 million. Nigerians - 200 million. As time goes on....the cultural influence of Nigerians on the entire African diaspora will be felt on every continent. They have a big mimetic spirit and they will push and push until they succeed. The only problem is that that mimetic rivalry is sometimes between Nigerians themselves. If they were truly united, they would be unstoppable.

That rivalry only happens among us because we are a nation of several other nations. For example Hausa Fulanis are about 47M,Yorubas are 42M and lbos are 37M....funny enough,all the big 3 have families spread across West Africa. Those nos are bigger than several countries within Africa itself. However when Nigerians are outside or against an opposing external threat,you won't notice the rivalry,everyone comes together to right off the threat.

Lol same in South Africa, in my language we say “siyazama” which means “we’re trying”. Even when I’m flourishing I feel so awkward about saying it because I don’t want to feel like I’m bragging and it’s really a societal thing.

@@infinitedreaming222 most natives pre history were all Africans because base on research they realise our ancestors were explores before even the Europeans knew how to travel by ship or boat. Natives or slaves were all Africans.

Lol now you lot want to claim your African Nigerian side after Nigerians are making it so big in the world music wise and their food becoming so popular 🤣 just a few years ago Jamaicans were ashamed of it. I hope Nigerians don’t give any of you the time of the day now. 😂 how pathetic
