In this flight we take a look at the new Rochester Airport (EGTO) from Burning Blue Design and then head down to their Headcorn, Lashenden (EGKH) in the Aeroplane Heaven Royal Navy DHC-1 Chipmunk.
Big thanks to Burning Blue Design for giving me the opportunity to fly their Rochester Airport in the sim.

BBD is one of the best developer in MSFS. Worth the money. This is the way airports should be done. This is a living airport, like in real life.

Nice to see the old Trolley Acc for ground power. Great vid, just bought the Chipmunk for myself and my 75 year old dad so looking forward to having a go. This was the first aircraft I flew in in 1982 when i was in the ATC prior to having a successfull 27 year career in the RAF as a sooty. Great vid mate.

Many thanks and congrats on a long service there! Let me know what you think of the Chippie! I know on the initial release a few real world pilots commented on unusual RPM - Speed settings but since the update perhaps it is a bit more realistic. I'd love to have flown it, wonderful little aeroplane.

@@Dreamsofwings I was 13 at the time and remember having the parachute being strapped on and then walking out the aircraft that was already waiting. Trying to get your leg up onto the wing when you've got a parachute strapped on thats making you bend over due to it being tighly fitted was an effort. I must laugh at my bailing brief which was something along the lines of "The pilot will initiate the bail command. he will pull back the canopy and you shoudl asist, then he will wait for you to bail before exiting the aircraft himself" The it was "To exit, climb out onto the wing, if you can, then jump between the wing and the tailplane". I will let you know how i get on but wil try flying from RAF Woodvale which is where I did the real thing from :).

@@OldManGaming69 🤣 I remember a similar briefing when I flew in the Spit 'oh so I just climb out and kind of jump in that direction do I?' thinking to myself 'christ, I hope it doesn't come to that!' Enjoy your trip and look forward to hearing what you think!

As a former member of the Tiger Club during its Headcorn days, I'm blown away by this! The Headcorn scenery is absolutely spot on - down to the placards, fuel pumps and marker boards. I even recognize the trees! Swift half in the "Wings" bar, anyone? :-)

Hi, great video. I have the chippy in the sim and I am really enjoying it. I first flew the Chipmunk in 1974 as my first flight as a pilot in the RAF. The flight was from RAF Rufforth near York. I went on to have 27 years of flying in the RAF flying some iconic aircraft such as the Jet Provost, Gnat, Hunter and Harrier. Loved every minute. Through many good aircraft and airfields, MSFS is giving me the opportunity to relive past memories 😎🇬🇧

Many thanks! That is great to hear that you, 'the real thing', are flying the Chipmunk and enjoying it! Congrats on a fantastic flying career too! You must have been a winged god to end up in the single seat Harrier!
@Peter-55
@Peter-55 2 жыл бұрын
@@Dreamsofwings I feel really privileged to have flown these aircraft. I was on the Harrier for 20 years, of which I spent almost half of that time teaching. I was head QFI for much of this time. My surname was different back then which is why some who may read this may not recognise me 😉 Maybe we will see a good Harrier simulation in MSFS one day 🤔 Thanks again for your content.
@Dreamsofwings
@Dreamsofwings 2 жыл бұрын
@@Peter-55 The harrier is a fascinating aircraft. I was an RAF brat but we never got anywhere near them. The pinnacle of my childhood was a posting to Lossie and watching the Buccs, Jags and venerable old Shacks! The harrier was such a capable aircraft wasn't it. I've just finished reading Paul Tremelling's book. Have you had a look at the DCS AV-8B? Probably closest there is at the moment and on my list of 'things to learn' one day 🤣

The flight was so real and relaxing. After a day that didn't go so well a nice slow relaxing flight in the chipmunk. With beautiful scenery, that looks so real. It's a nice way to relax and get my sense of humor back. I would enjoy a nice slow stress free flight in the simulator. Thank you for another great video.

That is a really nice add-on for EGTO, I had my kitfox and luscombe silvaire both based at Rochester and regularly would hop down to Headcorn for a cup of tea and slice of cake in the excellent cafe at Headcorn. I’d love this to be available on marketplace for Xbox (still don’t have a PC that can run the sim) as I’d buy it instantly! It’s certainly very true to life as an airport add-on
@Dreamsofwings
@Dreamsofwings 2 жыл бұрын
ah fantastic! Must be great to do that trip for real! Lovely aircraft too. Have you flown the Parallel 42 Kitfox2 in the sim? Funnily enough I used that to do a recce flight out of EGTO after I had installed it.
@alanharris2799
@alanharris2799 2 жыл бұрын
@@Dreamsofwings yes, as soon as the kitfox appeared in the sim marketplace it entered my hangar! It’s very close to the real thing, although the right roll is more excessive than my old plane was or at least as I remember it. The Fox 2 is the closest to my old plane, and the one I fly the most. It’s been a while since I flew out of Rochester and didn’t know 16/34 had been decommissioned, the approach to 34 over the supermarket was always fun, and there was nearly always a massive amount of sink on the 16 approach. With its position in the hill taking off on 20, you sometimes encounter sink just after take off going over the go-kart track area. Did my first solos and most of my training at EGTO :)

Another most enjoyable trip with a very genial host. The two airfields featured are, as you say, absolutely incredible. Having just forked out for a Tobii eye tracker (bloody expensive) I'll have to see what's left in the bank before I splash out on still more FS2020 stuff. Vey tempted. Thank you , Rob. I'll come again.
