I agree with you! I'm a retired Telemarketer. I worked for various places. Home Improvement, the Symphony, various Theatre's Youth Intensive campaigns, and a Carpet Cleaning outfit that had been in business for years. NONE of them were scams, or I wouldn't have worked for them. I've walked out on shady, well-paid jobs if they asked me to LIE. I was so burned out from working 911 Dispatch (I had high standards for myself there, too. I had to put up with others who didn't, and got sick of nothing ever changing in that regard, so I *chose* Telemarketing as a job I could feed my kid with, but I could walk away from without worrying about it being on my CV. Never had to do that, but was glad to have that option. THIS man is a SCAMMER, and should be prosecuted for Fraud, Grifting, Elder Ab#$e, Theft, AND they should be turned into The IRS. This is elder abuse. My grandmother was scammed by a company that told her she was in danger because she had no security bars on her basement windows (that I couldn't fit through as a size 2). Five small windows; it came to $4900 to supply and install these. The credit union flagged this and put a stop payment on the cheque. The security bars were $69 each at the hardware store. My grandmother was naive, and they scared her. Very grateful to the credit union, who knew their client and her spending habits. Good people. She did nothing wrong.

I had a furnace guy come to my house to do yearly maintenance on my furnace and he convinced my Significant other that their was going to be a horrible gas leak if we didn’t get this one part replaced. So he told us it would cost 1,500 dollars and my bf was about to run to the bank and I told him, “no call him back and tell him no we will have our own maintenance guy look at it” and he was kept going so I hung up on him.
