Great review! However, not mentioned or shown is the exclusive Burnmaster Micro-Heat adjustment feature. This unique feature allows the user to limit the top heat. This allows the dial to provide very precise micro-fine heat adjustment across the range of available heat. This is fully explained in the included manual. Note: Most users will like the factory adjusted settings but this feature gives for maximum creative control and allows low-heat burning. Another exclusive feature mentioned (but not demonstrated) is that the patented Burnmaster pen (wand) accepts virtually all "hot wire" style tips regardless of the manufacturer or brand (e.g. Colwood, Razertip, etc.). This is in addition to Burmaster accepting pens (wands) of other brands. Finally, Aney asked for an explanation of the reset overload protection (another exclusive Burnmaster feature). The reset overload protection works basically like a circuit breaker in your home. If a pen or cord has an issue (or if the unit is overheated) the reset button pops out (like a turkey baster) cutting power to the pen to protect the control box from damage. Pressing the button resets the overload protection. This is a feature not found in other units and provides 100% protection against the leading cause of control box failures of other brands. I searched mastercarver and can't find any manuals on their website! I'm interested in how you adjust the factory setting to micro-fine heat adjustment. I have this burner. Yes it's expensive, but you get what you pay for. I bought only the tips I needed. I look at use what you need instead of buying the whole line, and not using some of the tips. Also I interchanged other pens and that works too. A side note, I got my investment back in sales.

It's around $500 here in Aus and only comes with 10 tips but there is the single pen burner for around $300 and the 130w on the back means how much power it generates and as far as I can tell after researching wood burners the burnmaster is one of the best on the market

Hey! Thanks so much for this review. I am almost set on buying this but I still have some questions. Are the pens comfortable to hold? I noticed they are bigger around than Colwood and Razertip. Also, does the handle get hot? Do you feel like their is adequate low temps on this machine? And is the larger gage of the wire tips too big for detailed small work like 3" round ornaments? Just wondering if this is all-around versatile on its own. I'm currently working with an adjustable soldering pen and it loses heat so easily it takes me FOREVER to burn anything. Thanks!

Moriah Carter Hey Moriah! The wand is wider, so it’s not as pen like as the Colwood or Razertip, however the wand also stays cooler longer than the Colwood and the Razertip because it’s thicker. The thickness of the tips don’t inhibit my abilities to burn smaller at all. I use the smallest ball tip for fine details and it works great. The low temps are low enough. I can set it to a one or two and that’s low enough to shade really light spots. :) Good luck shopping and let me know what you end up getting. :)

I bought a Burnmaster pen to use with my Razertip machine. I was so impressed I immediately bought a second. They’re very comfortable to use. I prefer them to the Razertip pens. I was so impressed I’ve ordered a Burnmaster Eagle machine.
