I saw a movie called Walkabout. A native aborigines put mud on a child back to help with the sunburn.. i used this method and it does bring relief. This was done back in the 70's Works for me due to not getting infections like others

Great video, i have actually been there and realized i didnt have anything for burns in my kit, which was a miserable time, i do now, and dont rely on bought kits alone anymore because of it.

Burn dressing are no longer used in UK LE or SF medic teaching practice. Just irrigate to reduce heat and to clean away any foreign matter then cover with clingfilm generously. Next step, dependant on the burn %, evacuate the casualty to early advanced care. Protocols have changed extensively across the globe with remote/wilderness medicine.

Thank you once again for the valuable instruction. I saw a video ,where a woman who knows medicinal plants and trees. said that you could make a decoction of oak bark or acorns which leach out tannins and because it was boiled , strained and cooled, you could apply that to your dressing to cover your burn. She said burn units in hospitals use oak tannin decoctions to soothe and heal burns. I wonder what your opinion on that would be sir?

I used burngel, in blanketform as well as the squirter bottle. It has benzocaine which is sweet. Ambesol and Oragel can alleviate the sting of the burn, as well as sting from ice which makes it easier to keep ice on it to draw out heat. But the burngel is supposed to stop the burning process as Josh said.

No joke! About 8% 2nd degree and a small area 3rd. from coffee. My body going into shock, was the biggest hurtle. The only thing I had for dressing was raw honey. Have supplies on hand! Being out and alone was precarious.

First of all. Thank you very much for this video. I always include burn treatment impliments in my medkit. Like petrolium dressings and whatnot. But ive never been trained in any burn care. But i had a quick question. When you mentioned carrying soap... i do not. I do however carry a small ammount of hand sanatizer. Would that be appropriate for application on a burn before applying a dressing? Also regarding the soap. Not all soap is antibacterial. You are refering to antibacterial soap correct? Not just any old perfumed soap.?

Is it just me or does anyone else cringe every time he opens one of those packages? Money, money, money, money.
