A crazy suggestion, I would have cut off all the old mounts on the old bucket as you mentioned but I would also cut out the back wall of the bucket the same size as that quick attach plate then butt welded it in flush. It could save a ton of extra weight and brought bucket in closer as well. Just a thought.

I hadn't thought of that, that's a good idea. I'm not too worried about it because I only use this bucket for scaffolding so it doesn't have that much weight in it
