Bursitis is the inflammation of one or more bursae (small sacs) of synovial fluid in the body. They are lined with a synovial membrane that secretes a lubricating synovial fluid.[1] There are more than 150 bursae in the human body.[1] The bursae rest at the points where internal functionaries, such as muscles and tendons, slide across bone. Healthy bursae create a smooth, almost frictionless functional gliding surface making normal movement painless. When bursitis occurs, however, movement relying on the inflamed bursa becomes difficult and painful. Moreover, movement of tendons and muscles over the inflamed bursa aggravates its inflammation, perpetuating the problem. Muscle can also be stiffened.

I had this in my elbow from training muay thai (was about the size of a golf ball) and I used a patch called the OSMOPATCH. I'm not paid by them, I'm pretty sure that the ingredient inside it is fish collagen that attracts moisture (ingredients not on the box). You stick it on before going to bed (important to moisten skin a bit first, eg.: put it on after you have a shower and dried yourself off) and it "sucks out" the moisture via osmosis (hence the brand name). Also helps to put a light preassure bandage onto the patch while you sleep as it gives an extra "push" towards draining it. After the 1st patch it already shrunk by about 30% and after about 1 week of doing this every night it drained it by 95% and I was only left with a very minimal bit in the end, Omega 3 and Vitamin E supplements got rid of the final small "jelly-like" layer that remained at the end (about the last 5% of initial "golf ball" size. Many people drain it with a needle, and inject steroids no need for that. I just got back from training muay thai and I was throwing elbow-strikes to the heavy bag again. I'm so grateful, thank God I didn't have to have surgery and the entire cure took about 1 week, hope someone finds this and it helps you!

Very helpful info. Recently had this happen in my knee after a few hours of repetitive waist bending while sitting in a lawn chair to do garden weeding. I stood up to walk & yoweee!! Suddenly, couldn't put any weight on the knee. Took it easy for a week, using crutches, while carefully attempting to stand again - no luck, knee still hurt like H---. Then, during another standing attempt, there was a painful loud pop-snap & the knee instantly felt better. The swelling went away almost immediately, too. Must've been a burst bursa (rare) or a really messed-up tendon. Not certain what I did wrong. But, lesson learned - will never spend hours doing repetitive lower body work like that again.

20+ years as a flooring installer. Ive always worn knee pads. No knee pain ever. Ive been walking to lose weight. 30 miles or so per week. After 3 to 4 weeks, last night my knee just started incredible pain. I can use it and carry all of my weight on it, however, if i bend it, jeeez thats a lot of pain. It looks slightly swollen and i didn't injure it. Trying to figure out what is happening led me here. Its self diagnosis but my opinion is that this is my problem. Using ice, ibuprofen, elevation, and compression to get well. It only hurts when i move so im not moving. Im sharing so maybe this helps someone else. Ill update when better.

I like how about halfway through he goes from being in searing pain to being burnt out of his mind. Then he ends up in a hospital where a ghost holds up his blanket while the doctor completes his anatomy still life sketch drawing. Black lady is very impressed by all of this but also misses having eyelids.

@@chanakyasinha8046 Hi, my elbow has recovered well in last 2 months. Swelling completely gone, pain I cay say 99% gone. Some times when there is direct pressure on elbow then it pains a little. Here is what I did, - Took medication on time - Rested my elbow well, kept arm straight as much as possible - Applied pain and swelling relieving gel - After oil put cold gel pack for as long as pack was cold (you can put gel pack and tie it with crepe bandage) - Kept Crepe Bandage as much as possible. - If you have sitting job make sure surface you rest your elbow on is pretty soft be it chair’s arm rest or table.

1:46 - Sonya worked cleaning homes for 30 years so she could send her two children to college. Several times, she had been forced to call her employers to tell them she could not come in to work because one of her kneecaps was swollen and painful. What is Sonya's condition, and what probably caused it?

The ending forgot a key point. Surgery may also remove the bursa. That may be the wisest course for some. And it will grow back to some extent.

how can I force my bursitis to pop on its own? How fast of a velocity do I need to be able to bump my elbow to a wall to be able to pop the bursa and rupture it? That way, my elbow will be deflated and I'd feel relief. Thank you.

You said that corticosteroids helps every time but that is not true. Sometimes it helps for a few days or a couple of months it’s supposed to help for up to a year but it doesn’t. I had to have surgery to remove scar tissue from severe bursitis. I am recovering now Physical therapy and cortical steroids two different times don’t work. Your next responsibility is to have surgery.
