Burt Bacharach's poignant rendition of Wives and Lovers/ Alfie/ A House is not a Home. Live at the Roundhouse October 2008. A true Master of his craft. Fabulous backing from his Vocalists and the BBC Concert Orchestra.
How cool is this at 80 years of age?
It's quite extraordinary how he's honed these arrangements over many years and how he really uses the orchstral dynamics.
'Alfie' is his most favourite tune and lyric. Probably why he does such a soulful rendition of the song.
Just listen how he lets the saxophone 'sing' the vocal lines on 'A House is not a Home'. Just brilliant and such fantastic playing by sax player Dennis Wilson........Great trumpet too by Tom Ehlen.
