On the real Burt seems like a schizophrenic man with a very successful control on his affliction. His social behaviours are probably due to intense isolation he had throughout his life; and the violent thoughts are schizophrenic manifestations due to depression and a tough upbringing (im guessing it was bad.) He is aware of the consequences. With the help of the house , Burt is healing. He is training his schizophrenia to work in his favour, the voices are now a collective thing, and only he can do the math.

Burt reminds me a lot of Michael Laudor, the original central character for the movie 'A Beautiful Mind,' it was actually suposed to be called 'The first, Laws of Madness,' and it would have been based on the true story of Jewish man Michael Laudor, who overcame difficult odds to successfully graduate from Yale Law School. Ron Howard purchased the rights to Laudor's life story for $1.5 million in 1995 and had Brad Pitt slated to play the lead role. However, after Laudor stabbed his pregnant fiancée in 1998 in the midst of a psychotic episode where he believed his fiancée was "a nonperson or robot doll... planning to kill or torture him," plans for the movie were cancelled.😪🔯✊🏿

A lot of people think this was an act. My gripe is this; if he’s acting he would have to be stupid or insane to admit to these terrible things using his real name and face and saying that he acts to express his inner desires because saying these things would ruin his reputation and make people afraid of him. The only explanation is that he’s stupid and didn’t think it through or that he’s insane and it’s all real. But I don’t think he’s stupid because he answered TTS questions about calculus indicating that he’s completed higher level math classes that he wouldn’t be able to take or remember if he was an idiot. So that leaves the only possible explanation which is that he’s actually insane. Would anyone in their right mind blatantly admit to these things on television even if it was part of an act? No you would have to be insane to say these things, you’d have to lack some kind of moral compass. I also think he started back stepping at the end of the convo when he realized he shouldn’t have said that much because he started saying he would feel ‘guilty’ and he wouldn’t want to do it in real life but when he described why he would feel remorse, he was describing how he would get caught and be ostracized from society, not describing actual feelings of guilt but rather remorse over the consequences for himself. The only reason he wouldn’t do it is if he was caught.
