Lawman, Valdez is coming, Ulzanas raid. Three excellent westerns in 2 years. Early 70s, what a great period for western movies.

I agree 100%, three of my favourites, and a bunch of other great westerns, Burt always was as big as life in them.

Good compilation! It’s too bad such excellent acting talent was not used more often. I never got tired of watching Burt act.

Great Compilation, all of these were excellent, with the exception of "The Hallelujah Trail" and "The Kentuckian" I didn't much care for either one. Saw them Both in the theatre, and have watched them in later years to see if I would feel differently about them, but to no avail, I just thought they weren't very entertaining. "Lawman" and Ulzana's Raid' were stand out movies and the others all 5***** In my humble opinion. Burt's westerns were in a class all of their own, exceptional quality, and gritty.

Great selection of films. 'Valdez is Coming' is one of my favorite Westerns. Lancaster did have a bit role in 1976 movie 'Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bulls History Lesson' as Ned Buntline a famous publisher of dime novels about the old west.

Yeah I tend not to include uncredited or bit parts or cameos in movies.

@@famouspeople63 Burt Lancaster is accually named on the Lobby Cards for "Buffalo Bill and the Indians" and on the Movie Poster you can see him with a picture and name, so it's not uncredited aldo its a small part he play's.

Agree with Vera Cruz, probably his best, alongside Gary Cooper, it was great. One of my favourites, not a western, was The Crimson Pirate, doing all his own stunts, having just left the circus as an acrobat.

A yeoman like presence in many Westerns! But none of my favorite Lancaster films were in this genre. They include: 1. Judgement at Nuremberg (supporting actor, but powerful). 2. Birdman of Alcatraz (when I saw this in theaters in 1962, they were collecting money in the lobby to support his bird research). 3. Elmer Gantry (probably his most iconic role). 4. The Swimmer (an underrated but powerful story of 'You can't go home again' theme). What are yours?

Probably my all time is Birdman of Alcatraz, but plenty of seconds. Especially his later roles

Interesting to see these westerns listed in chronological order. The Kentuckian was after Vera Cruz I thought it was much earlier!

The alternative ending of Masai finished with his dead, shoot in the back while hearing his child the first time...Burt was a great one and any movie special, but he was just three hands high of the average Apache. Indè. Ludwig
