I used mountain bike all the old roads where the filmed Deliverance. Very quite area and just beautiful. I can totally see why Burt had a cabin up there! God, if I knew which cabin it was, I'd buy it just for its sacredness.

I've wondered if the scene at the end where Jon V. was eating dinner, was a group of local people. It really looked like it. I've just watched this after many yrs and the fact that these guys canoed this wild river is absolutely amazing. Even the local people are fearful of this river. I don't think they even knew what they were getting to. All the little extra things they did really made it such a good movie.

They said to save money they did hire local hill people for as many scenes as possible so bet they were. This movie must have had a small budget but it made money

Yes there is a tour going down the river showing the movie locations including THAT one. Burt Reynolds was so good as Lewis. Deliverance would not have been the same without him and his bow and arrows. Rest In Peace Burt.

Burt you were beautiful! I was 10 yrs old when that movie came out. At this time, I was into ''Dan August''. I was too young, and I remember it being too deep for me. But to look at it now! What a guy! Burt you were the BOMB!!! Love you forever my Man! Black folks loved you, and you knew it!!!!
@coldwinter57104 жыл бұрын
And Burt loved them right back! He LOVED Florida & the South, but he LOATHED the racism he grew up with. One of his very best friend was a beloved Black man, Ozzie Davis.
@rexxgarvin53134 жыл бұрын
@@coldwinter5710 Indeed. Him and Ozzie Davis go back to the 50's and 60's. Burt always had a charisma with black folks. He was really the first Man of his kind. He was like a hipper cooler version of a New Style Marlon Brando vibe.........Love Him

@@ararefind9069 My bad! If you read the 1st, the 2nd is also well worth the read, for certain! I personally liked the 1st one just a bit better...but BOTH are excellent! He had a gift for gab, which comes out in his writing. He was always a great storyteller & very quick witted! He could have written 10 books I'm sure. He had quite a life & some incredible adventures with the variety of people he was aquainted with & became close to. I'll always wonder why he didn't share more about some of his closest friends...but then, maybe some things are just better left unsaid. Chose to keep those memories extra special between them. Cheers!
