A trip down memory lane for me. I was a school bus driver when I was going to college back in the late 1960's. Back then I drove a 1958 Crown Coach with a 779 cu inch Hall-Scott flat six cylinder gas engine midships under the floor. Non synchro 5 speed, no power steering, and drum air brakes. I loved driving it.

Trip down memory lane for me here. I remember back in 2012 we got a new bus on my run, 2012 IC with the newer DT engine. Boy was that a beast. I miss the old days back even just 10 years ago when the International diesels were still alive.

Same. Well we can thank the environmental FuCc up agency for that one.

I've just come off of a 2001 IC. The 2010 is an updated version of that one. I've had no experience with the Maxxforce diesel other than riding in one. They are more smooth and quieter inside than the DT466 models. The front suspension looks different, from the little I've been able to see so far and the updated body really looks different to my eyes, especially the tall windows and high backed seats. Looking forward to driving it tomorrow.

Who noticed this? He showed the hazards on the switch panel, but there was still the hazards button on the steering column.

I did

There is no "park" on the transmission. You can shut the bus down in any gear and it is secured from rolling with the park brake, however it must be in "N" to be started. I just noticed the extra four way switch my self today.

Awesome bus. I wish i could be riding in a CE, but for now i'm stuck in a very old freightliner/international by thomas.

You said youve never drove the particular model, the IC's are cadillacs of buses. Nice smooth ride for both the passengers and driver

The school busses in our district didn't get radios until this year.

Yeah, JCPS really should invest in cameras. A few of the older buses I had on route a long time ago had them, but i don't think they worked lol. I think some of the 07 Thomas's have stereo's but I don't know if they work. I know one of the ones I had before I graduated had speakers installed but no stereo.

In June 2006, Allison actually upgraded the automatics in the buses to 6 gears
@aeastman162 жыл бұрын
@Brian Presley sixth is often electronically locked out. Even the old MD3060 had a sixth gear but it had to be unlocked with Allison’s software

Yea I rode a 01 CE also. The newer generation one is obviously better.

We really need the cameras to keep an eye on you guys. I'd rather have a stereo than a/c.

Yea, that's what it is, 6.4 liter, 200 some odd HP paired with the good 'ol Allison transmission. Haven't even heard it run yet.

Yeah, I like the tall windows too. Lol.. So the bus stays in "D" when it's parked? So there is two 4 way flasher switches? Wierd.

No. I drove a '03 Freightliner for part of this year and then a '99 International followed by a '02 International. It was an interesting year.

+yellowbusguy What my guess would be is if you were at a railroad crossing, you could use the same hand for the noise kill and the hazards, since it is placed next to each other

I'm almost 14 and love buses, especially bluebird. Freightliner buses suck, there too loud and slow, I rode on a 04 Thomas when I was in NC in 2010. And it was loud and slow. Had no parking break.
@yellowbusguy7 жыл бұрын
They all have parking brakes. The one you rode likely had hydraulic brakes, so you wouldn't have the woosh air noise you are used to hearing when a air brake bus pops the brake.
@michaelcousens91207 жыл бұрын
yellowbusguy true, your company doesn't have any Bluebirds? I ride a 2015 Propane Blue Bird vision Roush, it's quiet and axcelerates smoothly

and I'm in Connecticut now. We don't use the older models, we have the 2016 Saf T Liner c2, all our international buses are Cummins

The Bluebirds we have are 44 passenger special needs buses with chair lifts. See my video, "Hanging Out at the Bus Compound". They aren't well liked by drivers or mechanics.
