Nissan didn’t even put any water in my washer bottle on my last service. ARB made a mess of installing a Long Ranger tank , I had to take it back , I couldn’t of put a better comment than you👍🏻

Damn....! Like music to my ears! That diesel sounds as sweet as honey. Glad you found the culprit, and fix it. Such crappy things could easily dull your day. Thanks for your sharing brother, and from the Western Cape in South Africa, keep 'em roling....😎

Gasket under cover plate? When you get replacement bolts do you specify grade? I carry grade 5 because much stronger than mild steel and can still cut with hacksaw and will do most jobs. Have you thought about a small (maybe 3") vice bolted to your bumper/bullbar? Thanks Brett.
@RoamingTheOutback4 жыл бұрын
I usually buy high tensile bolts, so I can use them anywhere. I've thought about a vice on the bullbar, but again, every kg adds up, so didn't do it.

It's a bugger if you make a mistake like that but it's a right PITA if you pay good money to a "qualified expert" to make the same mistake.
@closertothetruth92092 жыл бұрын
a lot of mechanics i worked with were a bit lazy never putting their all into the job.

How did you find out what bolt sizes to carry for your 110?
@RoamingTheOutback4 жыл бұрын
Climb around with a notepad and set of spanners, and take notes on sizes used. The majority should be metric from memory, unless its early Series, then maybe imperial.
@Dorko854 жыл бұрын
You got a cheat sheet? 🤣
@RoamingTheOutback4 жыл бұрын
nope... you never know what a previous owner may have modified. Only takes a couple hours.
@MiniLuv-19844 жыл бұрын
Clearly the mechanic had the foresight to set you up to make another "Bush Mechanics" video. This is my constant fear - a mechanic being careless (or under pressure from the boss) and leaving me stranded. I'm too old now to do the job myself, so I am reliant on them. One bad egg and they give their entire industry a bad name.

That's what I thought when the sound appeared. Another chance to film my trials and tribulations. Just more to add to the story. But yes for you it would be a major concern. There was a lot of crawling around for me to locate the issue, not good if I were a much older man.

I don't know where you're based. But if you want a brilliant landy specialist. Contact James at Yorkshire 4x4. He's a one one man army an is a dedicated mechanic!

Damn your not having a good run lately with issues happening.. When I want to cut a bolt I also put a nut onto the bolt first, then cut the bolt and then unwind the nut off which will also clean the thread where you cut it.

Thats a frekin joke! There is no way that should come loose. I recommend keeping an eye out for a record imp vice, they are awesome, light and can be clamped to anything. Has a brake hose bender and anvil built in too.

Unfortunately, while there are some great mechanics working in car servicing, they are few - the majority work on bigger stuff for more money. Of the generally useless car mechanics, Land Rover specialists attract some of the worst because they’re a relatively low tech car that needs less special tools and training. All the same, you should inform the garage owner, and if their attitude is less than horrified at the poor standard of one of their employees, never use that business again. An injection pump is not a hard thing to replace.

Nothing worse than paying to have something done and it not being done right by a so called professional. Do you use the same mechanic all the time or different ones depending on where you are?
@RoamingTheOutback4 жыл бұрын
I use a few different LR specialists around Brisbane, depending on what work I want done.
@cmadk34234 жыл бұрын
Makes sense. Good thing you were able to diagnose and repair the issue, could have been much worse had you kept driving.
